Work Schedule 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekends hours required in conjunction with athletic event schedules.

Primary Purpose of Position This position is a Grounds Manager and is responsible for the technical, maintenance, and overall landscape coordination of the turf grass program (natural and artificial) for the athletic department in conjunction UNC Charlotte Facilities Management.

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
Some expertise of grounds keeping procedures, capability to follow instructions and to execute medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and practice.

University Preferred Appropriate qualifications:
Graduation from high school, or completion of its equivalency, and two (2) years of related grounds practice.

Essential Job tasks
   » Coordinate athletic field maintenance with University Facilities Management Grounds.
   » Responsible for the maintenance/preparation of all athletic facilities which may include but is not limited to; field lining, field maintenance, field repair, irrigation management, and hard surface prep (tennis courts/track surface).
   » Coordinates athletic department waste management including cleaning of all facilities post-event through contracted services, student workers, etc. Ensures all facilities are clean for practices and competitions.
   » On the preventative maintenance schedule for all utility vehicles. Perform minor maintenance repairs on equipment or vehicles. Diagnose equipment problems and repair if capable, if not, connect with manager to arrange for professional maintenance.
   » Assist with game management for Charlotte Softball.
   » Coordinate snow removal with UNC Charlotte FM and athletics staff for all facilities including Barnhardt Student Activity Center/Halton Arena.

Other Work Responsibilities
   » Assist staff with setup and strike of Jerry Richardson Stadium and working football games.
   » Maintain facility fences and locks, including padding and windscreens on fences.
   » Upkeep of tennis nets at Halton Wagner Tennis Facility
   » Other tasks as assigned

Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Associate or bachelor's degree in horticulture, turf management, or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two to three years of practice in the development and implementation of landscape plans and grounds maintenance; or an equivalent of education and practice.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications Where applicable, must be eligible for required certification(s).

Valid NC State driver's license or capability to obtain.
