Minimum Qualifications· A minimum of:o A Bachelor's degree in the teaching discipline -or o An Associate's degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education; one or more currently valid welding certifications - located onAWSstandards - fromAWS,ASME,API, or other related organization; and five (5) or more years of full-time equivalent practice in the discipline field -or o Documentation of significant and broad practice or contributions to the discipline demonstrated through: one or more currently valid welding certifications fromAWS,ASME,API, or other related organization located onAWSstandards; work practice, technical and performance competency, records of publications, or other qualifying credentials. · capability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing · Working expertise/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
Preferred Qualifications· Ten or more years direct work practice as a welder·AWSD1.1 certification(s);OSHA10-hour or 30-hour general industry certification · Minimum of the equivalent of one academic year of full-time teaching practice at the post-secondary level · Previous practice with online instruction via a course management system such as Moodle · expertise and/or practice with learning results assessment · Demonstrated innovation within the field of education and/or technology · Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making expertise · Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the capability to handle high-pressure environments · Evident of a availability to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth
Position DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Welding Technology Instructor is a full-time, 12-month instructional staff position that provides quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations in the Welding Technology program. This individual has responsibility for teaching and learning, curriculum development, advising, professional development, institutional service, and community relations. Licenses and/or certifications used for credentialing purposes must be kept current by the employee, unless noted otherwise. Job tasks · Create classroom activities and learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, including high school students, adult learners, and senior populations. · Exhibit an uncompromising commitment toSPCCas a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core expertise and learning results, and delivery of instruction and services · Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college · Stay current with developments in the discipline by earning additional industry-recognized credentials as assigned by the manager · Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position · Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college · Accept teaching assignments, located on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in high school and community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a corrections setting (Anson county) · Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online · Participate in or support the mentoring process, theSPCCFoundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation · Perform other tasks as assigned by the immediate manager, the dean, or the Vice President
