Samuel S. Fleisher Art MemorialTeen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorialis now accepting workshop proposals for our Fall term (September to December)!APPLY BY MONDAY, JULY 1 2024, 11:59 PMTeen Lounge is a free, drop-in after school arts program providing young people ages 13-19 with opportunities to meet and collaborate with working Philly artists. Past workshop topics have included sewing plush monsters, rug tufting, Nerikomi ceramics, character design, figure drawing, wheatpaste street art, and more! Workshops meet once a week for four weeks at Fleisher Art Memorial, on eitherTuesdays or Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm. Artists are compensated at $595 via stipend. Proposals should offer young people an exciting opportunity to explore a theme or medium of relevance to their age group. Experimental proposals are encouraged, and teaching artists have any studios/facilities at Fleisher at their disposal including printmaking, darkroom and ceramics.Participating teens will evaluate and select your proposals through our RFP process. After submitting a proposal, 15 artists will be invited to attend a mandatory Proposal Fair onThursday, July 18 4-6pmto meet Teen Lounge students and share their workshop idea (compensated w/ $25 gift card). Teens will then vote to choose which projects to run. 15 - 20 young people attend our workshops daily, from a variety of levels in art making practices -- however, due to the drop-in structure of the program, the class group can vary from session to session.
