Job detail Construction Materials Staff Engineer Requisition Number: 2024-1800-09 We are seeking for a motivated and passionate Construction Materials Staff Engineer to join our Construction Services team in Duluth, Georgia . As a Construction Materials Staff Engineer , you play a crucial function in ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects by assessing and verifying the properties and quality of materials used in construction. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer, you will coordinate field explorations, field logging of soil samples, performing engineering calculations/design, preparation of proposals and reports, and project and client support. Your Day-to-Day: »Reviewing plans and specifications: Ensure alignment with project objectives before field observations. »Documenting field activities: Record detailed observations and testing results during project execution. »Utilizing Metafield® and/or other management systems: Employ everyday for efficient data management and coordination. »Calibrating equipment to industry standards: Ensure accuracy and relicapability of field and laboratory tools. »Conducting Special Inspection observations: Adhere to IBC guidelines for comprehensive quality checks. »everyday communication: Engage with management, contractors, and clients to maintain project transparency and progress updates. What You Bring: » A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field » 0-2 years of professional practice » Basic working expertise of construction plans and specifications » Excellent computer expertise, with the capability to lgain commercial software applications » A availability to obtain International Code Council (ICC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications in the fields of aggregate, asphalt, soil, reinforced concrete, and masonry Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to execute the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: » Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions » Walking over rough and uneven terrain » Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion » Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) » Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites » Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary » Working outside of normal business hours when necessary We Are S&ME: For over 50 years, our collaborative approach to geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials has offered innovative solutions to deal with our clients' most complex challenges.
