Job Summary The College of Education invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track, adjunct or Associate Professor: Special Education position.

Appointment at the adjunct Professor rank is anticipated; however, higher rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the prosperous candidate.

This position will assist us in establishing a newly developed online master's degree in special education, an online graduate certificate in special education, as well as an undergraduate focus area. These programs include an emphasis on inclusive practices and asset- and growth-located approaches, rather than rehabilitation-located approaches.

We seek a colleague with scholarly and teaching skills in at least one of the following areas: high incidence disabilities, literacy, mathematics, assessment, and practicum courses with an emphasis on issues of UDL and inclusive practices, multilingualism, equity, and/or social justice. The adjunct or associate professor (tenure-track) will hold an academic appointment of 50% teaching, 40% research, and 10% service.

Within their home department of Educational Practice and Research, they will provide skills in undergraduate and graduate teaching in special education along with a strong record of scholarly success with promise of continuing research contributions commensurate to their rank and classification. practice with and dedication to online teaching excellence is required. Additionally, they will collaborate with K-12 and university faculty in implementing a standards and outcome-located special education program.

Key Responsibilities 50% Teaching and Advising: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and advising/mentoring graduate students as appropriate in their scholastic academic, research, and professional development. Align pedagogy with principles and practices identified in the OSU Quality Teaching Framework and be evaluated in part located on the capability to accomplish equitable learning results.

40% Research: Conducting and publishing research using equitable and inclusive practices in peer-reviewed outlets recognized as significant to research conducted and demonstrative that the individual's scholarship has (inter)national distinction with a focus on social justice, equity, and inclusion. Writing and submitting grant proposals for external funding is expected.

10% Service: Providing active service to degree program, college, and university as well as through significant professional associations. The incumbent is expected to be responsive to and contribute to OSU initiatives for promoting student success and enhancing diversity at OSU.

What You Will Need Minimum/Required Qualifications for all ranks:
   » Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education or a related discipline. ABD candidates with conferred degree prior to September 2025 will be considered.
   » Significant record of or demonstrated potential for scholarly achievement, including production of independent and collaborative scholarship and grant writing efforts.
   » Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
   » Research program and/or teaching practice in special education.
   » practice with online teaching modalities and demonstrated practice with online student engagement.
   » Evidence of prosperous practices supporting children and youth with disabilities and their families.
   » K-12 teaching practice including special education settings.
   » Evidence of prosperously integrating social justice principles in teaching practices at the postsecondary level, including evidence of meeting needs of learners from underrepresented backgrounds.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
