Position Summary This recruitment is to fill (1) part-time (35 hours per week) Graduate Research adjunct Position in the DeWitt Lab in the Department of Environmental & Molecular Toxicology at Oregon State University. The laboratory is located on campus in the Agriculture & Life Sciences Building.

The DeWitt Lab uses a combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro approaches to understand the effects of exposure to environmental contaminants on the immune and nervous systems. The position requires performing routine technical and specialized tasks that may include handling of live mammalian models, tissues, and cells, and various biological and biochemical assays with tissues and cells. The individual must be detail oriented, adaptable, and willing to manage their time around experimental schedules. The individual also will be involved in organizing and setting up new lab equipment and spaces.

Position tasks 80% development of independent experiments with mammalian models, tissues, and cells
Lead development of methods for in vivo and in vitro immune functional assays with cells harvested from mammalian samples. Will involve developing written protocols from literature, implementing and testing out various assays, developing standard operating procedures for developed assays, and being lead on all experiments involving flow cytometric analyses.

20% general operation related
Assist with set up and organization of new lab equipment and spaces, maintain laboratory data and follow data quality assurance plans, organize and inventory electronic laboratory data, and assist with laboratory experiments involving mammalian models, tissues, and cells. Plan and carry out independent experiments.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
