Primary Purpose of Department The Office of University Development is dedicated to cultivating a culture of philanthropy and fostering lasting relationships with donors, alumni, corporate partners, and friends of the University. Through innovative fundraising strategies, transparent stewardship, and heartfelt engagement, we aim to strengthen the University by building a strong, vibrant philanthropic community where donors, alumni, corporate partners and friends feel inspired to contribute financial support for the University's strategic initiatives, scholarships, research endeavors, infrastructure and more to shape what's next for our great University for generations to come.

Primary Purpose of Position Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development plays a vital function in the University's fundraising efforts by supporting the overall development strategy and cultivating donor relationships. In conjunction with the Advancement team and the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director will build a pipeline of prospective donors focused on the leadership abilities and major gift level. The Associate Director of Development will collaborate closely with advancement staff, volunteers, and college/unit leadership abilities in identifying, qualifying, and developing relationships with alumni, corporate partners, and friends to secure private philanthropic support. The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for developing and executing a major gift fundraising strategy to support the college/unit's strategic plan and in alignment with the University's strategic fundraising plans.

Summary of Position Responsibilities
   » Identify, qualify, cultivate and build a strategic pipeline/portfolio of prospects focused on leadership abilities gift level ($10,000+) and major gift level ($35,000+).
   » Consistently meet individual metrics and fundraising goals.
   » Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the advancement database, tracking donor interactions, gifts, and engagement activities.
   » Independently and in collaboration with the University Advancement Special Projects team, prepare and submit proposals to current and prospective donors.
   » Work with Deans and department chairs to administer college/unit specific fundraising strategy.
   » Collaborate with colleagues within the development team, academic departments, and other university units to coordinate fundraising efforts and ensure alignment with the overall institutional goals.
   » The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for designing and executing strategies to effectively cultivate and solicit prospective donors.
   » The Associate Director of Development will meet regularly with the Senior Director of Development to discuss goals and monitor progress toward achieving goals.

Other Responsibilities
   » Perform other tasks as required or assigned.
   » Attend a variety of events all over the year.
   » Regular local travel and some regional/out-of-state travel is required for this position.
Minimum Education/practice
   » Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of professional practice related to fundraising, nonprofit management, higher education, sales, marketing, development, business administration, project management, or relationship management.
   » Proven practice in major gift fundraising, development, or similar function, with a demonstrated track record of prosperous donor cultivation and gift solicitation.
Preferred Education, expertise, expertise and practice
   » Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of professional practice related to frontline fundraising, nonprofit management, higher education, sales, marketing, development, business administration, project management, or relationship management.
   » Proven track record of securing five and six figure philanthropic gifts.
   » Proven track record of working with volunteers.
   » Familiarity securing planned gifts.
   » Familiarity drafting grant proposals.
   » Team-oriented, self-starter who is able to proactively work and manage complex tasks.
   » Proficiency in using fundraising databases and software.
   » Strong organizational expertise with the capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
   » Passion for the mission of the University and the capability to articulate its impact effectively.
