Min Hourly Rate $14.20 (Standard); $13.20 (Non-Urban); $15.45 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $18.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill 12 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Sustaincapability Software Engineering Intern positions for the Sustaincapability Office at Oregon State University (OSU). The Sustaincapability Office seeks a student employee to maintain and develop various software applications and Information technology infrastructure. The prosperous candidate will be ready and eager to lgain about our software and DevOps (IT) infrastructure. Work schedule is somewhat flexible but must remain responsive to workload. A student developer position typically works 8-15 hours per week during the academic year and 15-30 hours per week during summer. The work is usually hybrid (part remote with some on campus work and office meetings). Position tasks » Maintenance and development of single-page-web-applications written in Progressive JavaScript Frontend Web Frameworks (VueJS) » HTML, Javascript, CSS fundamentals are required » Maintenance and administration of cloud applications hosted on Amazon Web Services, including the following technologies: » Lambda & API Gateway » Relational Database Service (RDS) » Elastic Container Service (ECS) and Elastic Container Registry (ECR) » Simple Storage Service (S3) » Serverless Application Model (SAM) » Cloudwatch » Simple Notification Service (SNS) » Development of continuous integration / continuous development pipelines (DevOps via Github Actions YAML, AWS Cloudwatch + SNS) » Read utility meters once per month on OSU's Corvallis Campus » Involves walking and driving all over the Corvallis campus, entering mechanical and electrical rooms, and going up and down multiple flights of stairs » Management and maintenance of several kiosk computers across OSU's campus. » Join colleagues for various Sustaincapability Office outreach events and student service projects. Clear and consistent communication and excellent interpersonal expertise ? Working expertise of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL ? practice developing at least one web development project with a frontend (HTML/CSS/Javascript, framework not required) and backend component (full stack). ? practice developing software projects in a team environment. ? Working expertise of Data Structures (CS 261) and Web Development (CS 290) ? Proficiency with Git/GitHub (know how to commit, create pull requests, merge branches, etc.) ? practice with software documentation and testing practices.
