Position Summary The recruitment is to fill (1) part-time (24-40 hours per week) Student Laboratory adjunct position for the Garcia-Jaramillo Lab in Environmental and Molecular Toxicology Department at Oregon State University.

This position requires performing routine complex technical and specialized tasks, liquid chromatography mass spectroscopy work, data processing, and handling toxic substances under strict safety operational procedures. The individual must be hard working, detail oriented, willing to meet deadlines, adaptable, and able to multi-task.

Position tasks 60% Sample collection, preparation, analysis, and data processing
Participate in research regarding cyanotoxins under the supervision and guidance of other graduate students and postdocs in the Garcia-Jaramillo's Lab. As well, the candidate will help PhD students on different projects with sample collection, preparation, analysis, and data processing

20% - Laboratory Maintenance and Support
Inventory management
Maintains the replenishing of supplies
Help with glassware cleaning
Prepare records of supplies received, and unpack, restock, and rotate stock on hand
Anticipate when inventory is running low for the lab and notify Lab Manager and PI immediately
Help maintain the collection, sorting, labeling, and storage of chemical waste following EH&S protocols
Maintains the overall cleanliness and order in the solutions and chemicals room, freezers and fridges, and LCMS room.
Empty and replace the glass waste bins and recycle containers on a regular basis, keep laboratory benches and instruments clean.

20% Preparing reports and presentations and attend weekly lab meetings.
As requested, the student will report results and update the PI, and other personnel in the lab working with candidate.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications 0.5 year of practices in cyanotoxins research, instrumentation and data processing with special focus on the analysis of water contaminants.
