Coastal Studies Institute facilities provide researchers with an eastern NC platform and base for conducting new research or extending the scope of continuing work. Coastal Studies Institute is a multi-university, collaborative institute dedicated to knowledge and improving the coastal environment and it's communities through integrative, location-located research, education and community engagement. The programs of the institute are as follows: Estuarine Ecology & Human Health; Coastal Engineering & Ocean Energy; Coastal Processes; Public Policy and Coastal Sustaincapability' Maritime Heritage and Public Education and Outreach. Job tasks Field/Lab Data collection & analysis (70%) - skills and attention is needed at all times in order to effectively collect and accurately analyze data connected with the research projects in our group. Given the many on-going projects, you must look for means to improve work efficiency, while maintaining data integrity. Data interpretation (20%) - All data collected has to be appropriately interpreted to answer appropriate research questions connected with individual projects. The person in this position will work with the manager to accurately interpret data sets collected and analyzed connected with coastal projects. This might include working in spreadsheet (e.g., excel), graphing, and geospatial programs. Lab safety & Compliance (10%) - Maintain a safe working environment all over our laboratories. Daily, weekly and monthly inspections is expected in this position. This position will help spearhead all safety inspections in our research laboratories.
