Position Summary Information

Position Summary: The FSL Tutor Coordinator provides day-to-day coordination to develop a new specialized FSL tutoring center; schedules and supervises the work of short-term and student tutors and staff; participates in recruitment, selection, and training of tutors; and develops new specialized center programs, activities, and procedures. The tutor Coordinator also carries a caseload of FSL participants all over the academic year.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: Coordinate (New) FSL Specialized Tutoring Center -
   » Coordinate, organize, and supervise everyday operations of the FSL tutoring center, including onsite activities and staff scheduling.
   » Serve as liaison with tutoring, instructional, and administrative staff for periodic program reviews. Participate in developing and implementing policies and procedures, prepare and verify payroll, monitor budget expenditures, maintain inventory, and prepare purchase requests.
   » Develop and manage the FSL tutoring center's schedule for tutoring activities, supplemental instruction, outreach appointments, and academic workshops. Assess student needs and resources, address student concerns about services and policies, and make referrals to other tutoring departments as needed.
   » Develop and monitor tutor recruiting and registration procedures, provide feedback on tutoring methods specifically for students with ASD, and resolve student concerns, escalating to the FSL Director if needed.
   » Participate in selecting, training, and supervising GAs and student tutors; assign work; ensure accuracy and adherence to FSL standards; maintain a fair work environment; and review timesheets.
   » Provide FSL students with tutorials, guidance, and training on online tutoring platforms and manage all virtual tutoring channels.
   » Provide predictive and trend data to forecast tutoring needs by subject area.
Case management : -
   » Assess academic preparedness to evaluate learning deficits for current and prospective FSL students
   » Coach FSL students using the goal-setting model and assist students in developing learning strategies that support individual growth
   » Maintain regular communication with faculty, academic advisors, and other related personnel to monitor progress
   » Communicate with APSU SDRC to ensure students gain access to appropriate and reasonable accommodations to support success within the classroom, where applicable
   » Ensure that all FSL students are advised, registered, and receive a schedule each semester;

Other:
   » Supervise Graduate adjuncts and student workers.
   » Serve on significant committees as needed
   » Assist in Data Collection, program evaluation, and creation of new services within the program
   » Remain competent and current through professional development to include self-directed reading, research, and networking with colleagues
   » -Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

   » capability to maintain the required tasks of this position while developing collaborative relationships
   » managery expertise necessary to support the development of Graduate adjuncts and tutors.
   » capability to work some evenings/weekends as needed for events related to ASD.
Physical Requirements:
   » Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Social work, or related Social Science fields;
   » practice working as a tutor;
   » A valid College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) tutor certificate (or equivalent) within the first six months of employment.
   » broad expertise of learning differences and strategies.
   » Strong interpersonal and communication expertise.
   » capability to work effectively with students with ASD, teachers, parents, and school administration.
   » Evidence of Autism training or attainment within the first six months of employment.
   » A background search will be required of the prosperous applicant.
