Organizational Unit Overview East Carolina University (ECU), a public doctoral degree granting institution with an enrollment of more than 29,000 students, is the third-largest member of the 17-campus University of North Carolina system. ECU is in the coastal region of North Carolina in Greenville, a rapidly growing city of more than 90,000.

The Department of Physics, with 18 full-time faculty members, is one of sixteen departments in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences. The Department of Physics at East Carolina University offers BS and MS degrees in physics and the PhD degree in biomedical physics. The MS program in medical physics is CAMPEP accredited. There are active theoretical, experimental, and computational research programs with an emphasis on biomedical applications of optics, spectroscopy, and ionizing radiation.

Job tasks The Department of Physics at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC, invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching position for the academic year 2024-25, beginning August 2024. The position will be in health physics or experimental biomedical physics. The prosperous applicant will teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Service to the university, community, and profession is expected.

Continent upon available funding.

Minimum Education/practice Ph.D. in Physics, Biomedical Physics, or a closely related field, such as Astronomy or Applied Mathematics, required. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation None.

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education At least one year of postdoctoral practice preferred.
