Position Title: Operations adjunct
Reports to: Program Manager
Hours: Part-time, approximately 12 hours per week to include all day Saturdays and one weekly staff meeting on Tuesdays.
income: $8,000 annually; exempt; paid in equal installments on a monthly basis between September 2024 and June 2025
Position Overview:
The Operations adjunct supports the program operations of a growing youth orchestra program. Reporting to the Program Manager, and working closely with the Music Director, staff conductors, and Program Interns, the Operations adjunct is responsible for logistical coordination of orchestra events - including rehearsals, concerts, auditions, sectionals - to ensure an efficient and optimal practice for the orchestra members and conductors. The Operations adjunct is expected to be present at all Saturday rehearsals between 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM, all organizational concerts, and a weekly staff meeting on Tuesdays between 3:00 - 4:00 PM.
Essential Functions:
-Under the supervision of the Program Manager, assists with rehearsal logistics every Saturday from September through May (except major holidays). This includes:
   » On-the-floor presence at all rehearsals, between 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM.
   » Helps manage parent volunteers working the front desk.
   » Assists with physical set-up and teardown of rehearsal space.
   » Helps monitor weekly musician attendance and follows up on absences and lateness as needed.
   » Assists the conductors as needed.
   » Assists with supervision of orchestra interns
-Assists with set-up needs at all other orchestra events, including performances, auditions, sectionals, master classes, side-by-side events, and more. Assists Program Manager with equipment transportation to and from concert venues, and assists with stage management activites. Attendance at all organization concerts is mandatory.
-Assists conductors and program staff with distribution of music for all ensembles. Copies parts as needed, assists with keeping orchestra library organized, and helps prepare folders for all musicians. The Operations adjunct may also be asked to mark up parts with notes from conductors and/or bowings.
-Under the direction of the conductors, manage the seating audition process in the fall. This includes ensuring excerpts are printed and prepared, audition forms are prepared, and traffic flow is coordinated.
-Maintains familiarity with organizational emergency procedures and emergency preparedness.
-Other tasks as assigned.
Appropriate qualifications:
-Background in and expertise of orchestral classical music.
-Minimum HS diploma; college degree preferred.
-Excellent and proactive communication expertise, in person and over email.
-Comfort working with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
-practice working with Middle School, High School, and College aged students preferred.
-Self-motivated and about to accomplish results with limited supervision.
-Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
-Willing and able to handle confidential information with discretion.
-Willing and able to meet the physical demands of the job (lift and move equipment).
-Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed.
-Must undergo a background check as a condition of employment.

Education Level:
