Job Summary The Office of Pre-College Programs is seeking a Campus Field Trip and Beaver Hangouts Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

With the mission of providing engaging learning practices that are rooted in equity and inclusion and that promote youth success, the Office of Precollege Programs (PCP) supports and supervises a wide variety of youth outreach activities and academic programs to broaden participation in STEM and increase college access, academic preparation, and career consciousness for Oregon's youth.

The Campus Field Trips and Beaver Hangouts Coordinator supervises the management and coordination of day-to-day programing needs for two Precollege Programs:
Campus Field Trips (CFT) and Beaver Hangouts. Additionally, this Coordinator assumes leadership abilities and management of the unit's Student Outreach adjunct (SOA) Program superviseing the hiring, training, and mentorship of PCP's student employees serving these and other programs in the Precollege Programs Unit. This position supervises PCP core student adjuncts with the logistical and programmatic needs of Campus Field Trips and Beaver Hangouts. The Coordinator also assists with the coordination of SOAs performing occasional tasks in support of other PCP programs and one-time projects connected with grant partnerships involving Precollege Programs deliverables. This position collects and analyzes assessment data for the aforementioned programs and provides assistance to the Director as needed.

The Campus Field Trips and Beaver Hangouts Coordinator represents PCP in a guiding and advisory capacity to the OSU campus community as wells as to external partners (school districts, educators, community-located organizations, etc.), assisting with partnership building, identifying collaborative work that aligns with the program efforts and goals as well as with the K-12 community needs.

Key Responsibilities 60% leadership abilities, oversight, and direction of Campus Field Trips and Beaver Hangouts Programs


· Designs and implements in-person and virtual program activities related to topics including but not limited to STEM and college and career consciousness and readiness activities. Supports processes and systems to ensure efficient and effective workflow for the program.

· Recruit and communicate with OSU community partners, faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students to offer program related presentations or to participate in other significant program activities, working with departments and partners to develop age and grade level appropriate outreach activities and impactful programming for K-12 audiences.

· Designs, assigns, and executes all program logistical needs including stepping in to lead program sessions as needed.

· Adapts program design to align with staffing needs, resource allocation, targeted audience and community needs located on feedback from partners and program evaluation results (e.g., discusses learning results with Oregon teachers and educators participating in Campus Field Trips for each visit and creates a customized academic practice for each group).

· Designs new activities and curriculum in collaboration with PCP's Curriculum and Professional Development Specialist through a continuous improvement approach.

· Prepares annual program reports for the director, which are then incorporated into the annual Precollege Programs unit wide report to the Vice Provost of Enrollment management.

· Seeks, develops, maintains, and nurtures internal partnerships across the University (Admissions, UHDS, Athletics, academic colleges, Cultural Centers, etc.) and external collaborations (Community located organizations, School Districts, Non-profits, etc.) for continuous program improvement and collective impact on K-12 audiences.

30% leadership abilities, oversight, and direction of the Student Outreach adjunct (SOA) Program:


· Recruits SOAs through a lens of equity, inclusion, and diversity by reaching out to and partnering with college advisors, resident directors, student groups, and other partners aligning to this work.
· Fosters a sense of belonging and strong team camaraderie amongst SOAs.

· Performs all managery tasks connected with employees including but not limited to: hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, offering professional and personal growth opportunities, and performance reviews.

· In collaboration with PCP's curriculum and professional development specialist, develops and manages initial training and continuing professional development for SOAs, including up to 40 Student, Outreach adjuncts and 4 core student coordinators.

· As needed, utilize OSU motor pool vehicles for travel to K-12 schools around the state and to support any out-of-town Student Outreach Programs, which requires the person in this function to maintain a current, valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

5% Coordinate Discovering the Scientist Within (DSW) program .

· Coordinates existing planning committee of employees across the University.

· Ensures all program logistical needs are delegated and completed by planning committee.

· Assists with volunteer recruitment, training, and onboarding of OSU Undergraduate student mentors.

· Coordinates with external youth groups for prosperous participant registrations.

5% Other program supporting activities and tasks as assigned by the Director and/or Associate Director.

· BA or BS in Education, a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related Field or STEM education.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

What We Would Like You to Have · Pedagogical training and/or demonstrated competencies in education or science, mathematics, engineering and technology education and outreach for K-12 audiences.

· Demonstrated practice in planning, designing, and/or implementing virtual education activities and/or programs.

· Bilingual/Fluency in Spanish.

· Demonstrated commitment to broadening participation in STEM or College Readiness.
· Proficient use of digital tools, including project management and organization tools, generating reports, and developing presentations.

· practice supervising employees or volunteers, particularly undergraduate students.

· Two or more years' practice as sole coordinator for a multi-faceted youth program.

· practice working with multiple partners and managing multiple projects.

· Working expertise of media production, marketing and branding tools. (e.g., graphic design, video editing, website development, social media engagement)

Working Conditions / Work Schedule · Will require moving from one location to another, sometimes quickly, during programs, including around campus and off campus.

· Will require transport of equipment to and from those locations with the assist of carts/wagons.

· Will require evening or weekend work, as necessary, to support programming during off hours.

· Will require travel for conferences.

· May require travel for programs, depending on the program and partner organization.
