Job Summary The Department of Applied Economics invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track adjunct Professor of Sustainable Development position.

We are pursuing a microeconomist to conduct research on sustainable development. This position is designed to advance teaching and research in this area with an emphasis on the quantitative analysis of issues that cross the boundaries between agriculture, food, natural resources, or the environment.

The incumbent will teach three 10-week quarter classes per year in the undergraduate or graduate programs of the Department of Applied Economics. Undergraduate courses will serve the department's Environmental Economics and Policy major and the Agricultural and Food Business Management major. Graduate courses may include microeconomic theory, applied econometrics, or field courses consistent with the person's skills and the needs of the department.

All Oregon State University faculty in the professorial ranks have a responsibility to engage in original, high-quality scholarship and creative activity. Scholarship is intellectual work that is shared with peers in journals, in formal peer-reviewed presentations at professional meetings, or in comparable peer-evaluated forums.

To support a research program and graduate students, the prosperous candidate will be expected to compete for external grants and contracts, which may include those from federal agencies such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), or private funders such as the Gates Foundation. The person will have the opportunity to cooperate with College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) researchers from other departments on interdisciplinary grant proposals and research. Given the visibility and focus worldwide on sustainable development by major foundations, governments, and inter-governmental organizations, this position will also enhance the Departmental and College goals of increasing external grant funding for international education, experiential learning, and applied research.

CAS faculty are committed to enhancing student success by engaging students in quality academic, research, internships, global studies, and other experiential learning opportunities. This faculty member must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through service or specific job tasks. This faculty member will design, maintain, and carry out programs to ensure that all people have equal employment opportunities and equal program participation opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, national origin, age, marital status, discapability, or veteran's status. This faculty member will embody and advance the principles and practices conveyed in the CAS CARE Commitment document .

This position carries the general and specific responsibilities of a faculty member described in the CAS Faculty Handbook and the promotion and tenure guidelines of Oregon State University. These include effective research programs, demonstrable scholarship and creative activity, service contributions, and active professional development.
