The mission of St. Joseph’s University, New York is to provide a strong academic and value-oriented education rooted in a liberal arts tradition that supports provision for career preparation and enhancement. The Long Island Campus, located in Patchogue, serves a population of approx. 3500 students who live within commuting distance to the University. The Brooklyn Campus, located in historic Clinton Hill, serves a population of approx. 1000 and houses residential students.Position DescriptionThe Licensed Counselor will provide direct psychological services to the University student population to include brief individual therapy sessions but may also include group therapy, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, and educational workshops. This is a 9 month position (September – May) with flexibility in scheduling hours between Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.The Counseling and Wellness Center staff primarily works from a cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and solution-focused therapeutic orientation, while also incorporating experiential, holistic and mindfulness located approaches.
