Position Summary:: The adjunct Dean, External Relations is a member of the leadership abilities team of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). They are responsible for managing and implementing the College's external relations strategies, building positive, impactful relationships with alumni and donors, Advisory Council board members, and current and potential employers with a focus on increasing engagement and support of CLAS and its students and faculty.

The adjunct Dean works in collaboration with University Advancement to identify and communicate fundraising opportunities for the College, to advance alumni involvement and philanthropy, and to promote overall goodwill among the college's external constituents, community, and peers. The adjunct Dean supports the Dean in all activities in order to influence positively the College's reputation and recognition.

tasks and Job responsibilities::
   »Primary Liaison with CLAS Advancement team: In collaboration with the CLAS Director of Major Giving, cultivate and steward current and potential donors. Specific activities may include: identifying appropriate individuals for cultivation; keeping the Advancement staff informed of the College's funding priorities; partnering with the CLAS Advancement team in developing and submitting funding proposals for specific needs, and supporting the Dean with on-campus engagement.
   »Alumni - Student Engagement : In partnership with offices and individuals across campus, engage alumni, parents, and current and prospective employers with CLAS students. This includes collaborating with the University Career Center to provide significant support and direction for the College's three professional development immersion programs: Villanova at the Agency, Villanova on Hill, and Villanova on Set, as well as on-campus programming such as the Biotech Bootcamp. In collaboration with the Office for Undergraduate Students, help implement and supervise College's alumni mentoring program. supervise and manage CLAS' Alumnus in Residence program.
   »Management of Advisory Councils and Affinity Groups: Managing the CLAS Dean's Advisory Council (DAC) in close collaboration with the Dean, the CLAS Director of Major Giving, and the Co-Chairs of the DAC. Providing significant support and direction to other college advisory councils including the Communication Advisory Council, the Computing Sciences Advisory Council, the Physics Advisory Council, and the Public Policy Advisory Council. Manage the Villanova Communication Alumni Network in collaboration with Communication Department and Alumni Relations; manage the Public Policy Society in collaboration with Government Relations and Alumni Relations.
   »Resource to Academic Departments and Programs: Serve as a resource for department chairs and faculty in planning academic and external events, including oversight of event logistics managed by the Special Events Coordinator, and collaboration with the Director of Communications on promotion internally and externally. The adjunct Dean also seeks opportunities to broaden and elevate departmental and College events to attract external or alumni audiences, as appropriate.
   »Corporate/Employer Engagement : Collaborate with the Career Center and the Office for Undergraduate Students in identifying and promoting alumni champions at organizations who can provide internships, mentoring and other career-related support to CLAS students. The adjunct Dean also serves as the CLAS representative on the University's Corporate Foundation and Relations Committee and the Industry Partnerships Committee.
   »Admissions: Provide oversight of CLAS' involvement in University Admissions events and marketing to prospective students, in collaboration with the Director of Communications and the Coordinator of Special Events. The adjunct Dean serves on the University's Recruitment and Admission Advisory Group (RAAG).
Minimum Appropriate qualifications::
   » Formal suitable education Bachelor's degree required
   » Work practice: 5 to 7 years progressively responsible managerial practice with a
   » Work expertise (e.g., written and verbal communication expertise): Familiarity with complete MS Office computer program suite. Must have practice in public presentations to various audiences. Excellent oral and written communication expertise.
   » Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area): Must be knowledgeable in the areas of External relations and fundraising. knowledge of the culture of higher education and commitment to the mission of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
