Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity The The School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) is seeking an hourly Academic Wage: Faculty Research adjunct. This is a part-time (0.60 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term position. This position is anticipated to last approximately 6 months. The Faculty Research adjunct position will work within the Blunck Research Group at the Corvallis campus of Oregon State University. The Faculty Research adjunct will conduct research in wildfire. This Faculty Research adjunct, individually and as a part of team, will conduct experiments, analyze data, and generate presentations and reports on firebrand generated when structures are burned. The research includes temperature measurement of firebrands, heat flux estimation from landing firebrands, the use of interpolation - extrapolation techniques, and image processing tools. tasks include but are not limited to, helping to design and carry out experiments, analyzing and interpreting experimental data, maintaining accurate records of research findings, managing undergraduate students, and developing weekly reports on the progress and providing an action plan for the following week. What We Would Like You to Have » practice conducting fieldwork related to the research. » Proficiency in using statistical and image processing tools in MATLAB or Python. » practice publishing research findings. » capability to present research findings at conferences and seminars. » A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity Working Conditions / Work Schedule The Faculty Research adjunct will primarily work in a laboratory setting (CIRE lab, Rogers Hall). this function may occasionally require fieldwork for testing. Safety protocols must be strictly adhered to, especially when working with thermal and electrical systems. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, with most work to be completed during normal business hours. However, due to the nature of research project, occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary.
