Primary Purpose of Department The Strategic and Success Initiatives team cultivates a culture of success and development for students, families and supporters, and student affairs staff through divisional development opportunities, evidence-located enhancements, collaborative approaches, student-centered initiatives, and innovative strategies to promote a welcoming environment and fulfilling practice for all students.

Primary Purpose of Position The Director for Niner Finances is responsible for leading campus-wide financial literacy educational and programmatic efforts, directing one-one financial literacy counseling and coaching, providing oversight for professional staff and student peer educators.

Summary of Position Responsibilities
   » Provide strategic and tactical leadership abilities to promote campus-wide financial literacy to undergraduate and graduate students.
   » Define departmental goals and objectives, and coordinate execution and assessment of the same.
   » Implement strategic and tactical initiatives to meet departmental, divisional, and university strategic plan expectations.
   » Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with divisional and campus partners, including but not limited to: Student Affairs offices, Center for Graduate Life, University College, Undergraduate Education, Financial Aid, Niner Central, Business Affairs, Academic Affairs.
   » supervise campus-wide financial literacy initiatives.
   » Lead collaborative initiatives with other financial services across campus.
   » Supervise full-time, part-time, undergraduate, and graduate student employees.
   » Manage annual budget in excess of $50,000
   » Manage funding allocations from multiple funding sources - both internal and external - and operate within UNC Charlotte policies and donor stipulations.
   » Maintain strategic partnerships with external funding companies, organizations, agencies, and constituents.
   » Develop partnership opportunities in collaborations with University Development.
   » Provide for-credit and not-for-credit financial literacy instruction.
   » supervise and facilitate the delivery of programs and services related to financial literacy to on-campus constituents.
   » supervise and facilitate the delivery of programs and services related to financial literacy to select off-campus constituents.
   » supervise and facilitate financial education strategies including financial literacy, budgeting, and money management.
   » Provide oversight and strategic direction for all financial literacy initiatives.
   » supervise the creation, design, copy writing, and editing of all written, electronic, printed, and social media publications.
   » Engage in on-going professional development by attending local, regional and national conferences.
Minimum Education/practice
   » Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Financial counseling or related field.
   » Three or more years of full-time, post-graduate, professional work practice in financial literacy/education or providing financial counseling/coaching practice in a higher education setting.
   » Three or more years of full-time, post-graduate, professional work practice in a higher education working directly with students.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, expertise and practice
   » Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Financial counseling or related field.

   » Knowledge of the higher education setting with practice in student support, education, and advocacy
   » capability to manage all aspects of a comprehensive financial literacy program
   » Knowledge of and practice with financial literacy issues, student services or financial aid pertaining to college students
   » capability to exercise good judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving confidential and sensitive situations with minimal supervision
   » capability to build, develop and cultivate relations across campus with a variety of constituents and work effectively with diverse populations.
   » Self-motivated, energetic, service minded and adept at solving problems
   » Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal expertise
   » Strong managery, coaching, and mentoring expertise
   » capability to professionally and appropriately manage sensitive, private material, and information.
   » broad knowledge of financial literacy and wellbeing standards, benchmarks, and program design methodologies
   » practice in counseling, behavioral finance, problem-solving and intervention strategies
   » Strong public speaking, presenting, and facilitating expertise
   » Knowledge and knowledge of applicable federal rules and regulations
   » capability to interpret and effectively communicate rules and regulations in both one-on-one sessions and group presentation
   » Skill in developing and presenting credible financial literacy and wellbeing education to all audience
   » capability to prioritize multiple projects and work in an environment with regular interruption
   » Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
   » Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff
   » Strong initiative to deal with problems
   » Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
   » Knowledge of various financial literacy and wellbeing online platforms and/or modules
