Job Summary The College Assistance Migrant Program is seeking a High School Equivalency Program (HEP) Teacher. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) Teacher, under the direction of the Director of HEP, is responsible for teaching migrant and seasonal farm worker students in the program in the following subject areas: social studies, science, mathematics, and reasoning through language arts. The HEP Teacher implement GED preparation strategies, curriculum, subject specific activities and materials, and create learning communities for participants in English and/or Spanish; develop instructional plans to meet the needs of the students, provide academic and non-academic support, and support tutoring services; develop education plans for each program participant.

Key Responsibilities 80% GED Instruction and Learning Community Development
   » Provide GED instruction to migrant and seasonal farm workers in English and Spanish in the following subject areas: science, mathematics, social studies, and reasoning through language arts.
   » Implement effective learning strategies and methods tailored to adult learners.
   » Create and maintain a positive learning community to support participant engagement and success.
   » Apply effective adult learning strategies to enhance the educational practice.
   » Create an equitable and inclusive learning environment

20% Individual Assessment and Progress Monitoring
   » Regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion in assessing the individual needs of HEP participants to develop personalized plans of action.
   » Track and monitor student progress through systematic assessments.
   » Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and results.
   » Help hire, train, and supervise academic tutors to ensure high-quality student support.
What You Will Need
   » Bachelor's degree in education, or related field.
   » One year of professional work practice in teaching ABE/GED OR any combination of significant education and professional practice.
   » Bilingual: fluent oral and written communication expertise in English/Spanish languages; evidence of cultural competency expertise.
   » A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and creating an equitable and inclusive environment.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Position will typically be in the classroom during business hours, with the occasional need to work night and weekends.
