Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/suitable education Upon completion of training, applicant will be able to demonstrate competencies connected with the following tasks: effective performance of general patrol tasks (emergency response, medical, traffic, and service); the capability to execute effective investigations; an knowledge of crime avoidance and community policing in a university environment; the capability to effectively use and maintain law enforcement equipment; and the capability to effectively perform telecommunications tasks. Minimum age 21. prosperous completion of a medical examination, psychological evaluation, and drug screen. tasks and Responsibilities Upon completion of training, applicant will be able to execute all essential job functions of a North Carolina Law Enforcement agent including: effecting arrests; preparing investigative and accident reports; exercise independent judgment in search and seizure and arrest situations; operate a police vehicle in all conditions; communicate effectively utilizing the police radio systems; conduct criminal investigations; pursue fleeing suspects; perform rescue operations; utilize various firearms and other use of force tools; conduct foot patrols; conduct surveillance operations; effectively communicate with people in all situations; maintain control when confronted with verbal abuse; administer medical assistance located on level of training; and transport and process detainees.
