Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 10 hours per week) Student Research Lab adjunct -- Earth History and Sedimentary Geology at Oregon State University (OSU).

Join the Creveling Laboratory, Geology & Geophysics discipline group, Oregon State University, and contribute to cutting-edge research in chemostratigraphic alignment. this function demands a self-starter with a keen focus on running a stratigraphic correlation software and interpreting the output for parsimony with physical stratigraphic observations. The prosperous candidate will utilize computer programs for time-series alignment; apply statistical analyses to alignment outputs; seek, read, and evaluate peer-reviewed literature; develop databases of chemostratigraphic data from peer-reviewed literature; develop scientific illustrations; and write concise summaries of data analyses and results.

Position tasks 40% Chemostratigraphic Alignment Computation Work
   » Seek, develop, query, and format chemostratigraphic databases
   » Conduct routine computational tasks related to time series analysis
   » Utilize computer programs for data analysis and data visualization
   » Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate completion of numerical experiments.

60% Evaluation and Presentation of Computational Alignment Outputs
   » Critically evaluate alignment outputs in the context of geology and physical stratigraphy
   » Read peer-reviewed literature to develop informed rational for the critical evaluation described above.
   » Develop concise written summaries of data analyses and results.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
   » Enrollment in an undergraduate program at Oregon State University, preferably in a significant field such as geology, applied mathematics, or oceanography.
   » Strong interest in scientific research and a availability to lgain new techniques and procedures.
   » Comfortable working with technology.
   » Exceptional attention to detail and capability to work accurately without everyday supervision.
   » Excellent communication and interpersonal expertise, with the capability to convey research results, research hurdles, and planned actions/activities.
   » Able to meet with manager twice weekly between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
   » Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
   » Excellent organizational expertise and the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
   » Strong communication expertise, both written and verbal, with the capability to convey complex technical information effectively.
   » A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
   » Completion of a Stratigraphy and Sedimentology course, or similar.
