Minimum QualificationsA Master's Degree in Library Science is required.
Preferred QualificationsFive (5) - Seven (7) years of practice in an academic library is preferred.Three (3) - Five (5) years of practice in a managery capacity is preferred.
Position DescriptionUnder the direction of the Director of Instructional Support Services, performs managerial functions in directing andcarrying out library operations to provide educational, informational, and cultural reading and multimedia opportunities forstaff, students, faculty, and local citizens. managery responsibilities include other library staff.Knowledge, expertise, and Abilities: Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in settings with people from diverse backgrounds,educational levels, and age groups while exhibiting the capability to maintain the confidentiality of communications. Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and community stakeholders. Display proficiency and/or show positive progress - in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, significant computerapplications, and Internet platforms. Display expertise in planning, organizing, and implementing new initiatives, programs, and services; certify quality throughtracking and assessment while effectively managing time and resources, meeting deadlines, and paying attention todetails. Perform complex tasks, prioritize multiple projects, manage interruptions, and demonstrate the capability to workindependently without supervision. Practice high ethical standards and preserve confidentiality when dealing with sensitive data and information. Demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion within the workplace. Demonstrate knowledge of library operations and leadership abilities expertise. Essential tasks and Job responsibilities: Assist at the circulation desk, including helping library users locate library materials, reference services, and otherrequired services. Provide support to students in analyzing and knowledge assignments and projects. Provide individual assistance to students, faculty, and staff in locating information using library resources. Assistancemay be provided in person or via phone, email, chat, or learning management system. Conduct library orientation tours to familiarize patrons with library services and facilities. Collaborate with faculty to develop, recommend, and facilitate new, innovative library instruction and services. Manage collection development management by reviewing, evaluating, and recommending new materials as well asevaluating and weeding materials for disposal. Catalog library materials in all formats to assure maximum accessibility and usefulness. Participate in the creation and updating of library policies and procedures; communicate and interpret library policyas delegated by the Director. Participate in the planning process for library programs and services. Maintain records and statistics and submit reports as required. Write reports and compile library-related statistical data as needed.Teach library instruction in traditional, hybrid, and online class settings. Provide information literacy, research, and collection development assistance as requested. Design, implement, and maintain library web-located platforms, including the library website. Manages the local configuration and functionality for the integrated library system (ILS), subscription databases,hosted proxy, and other electronic tools. Coordinates the acquisition, licensing, configuration, and renewal of electronic library resources. Assists in selectingand deselecting physical materials in assigned areas. Investigate, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies improving and/or expanding discovercapability, access,and services to library resources. Assist in the procurement of library resources and managing the library budget and account expenditures. Perform personnel functions for library staff, including training and resolving personnel issues. Staff the circulation desk, complete inventories, shelve materials, and perform shelf-reads when needed. May supervise student workers and volunteers.
