Laurel Hill

Laurel Hill, two of America's most historic cemeteries and funeral home, has an exciting opportunity for an practiced Manager of Membership & Annual Fund. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager of Membership & Annual Fund plays a crucial function in advancing Laurel Hill's mission by cultivating donor and member relationships, securing financial resources, and enhancing the overall member/donor practice. This position is responsible for developing and implementing effective fundraising and membership strategies including direct mail and digital campaigns, managing donor and member databases, providing exceptional stewardship, and creating engaging donor and member events.
Laurel Hill East, founded in 1836, is located in Philadelphia and is a 78-acre National Historic Landmark. Laurel Hill West, 187-acres located in Bala Cynwyd, was founded in 1869 and is the location of the Laurel Hill Funeral Home. Both cemeteries are 501(c)(13) organizations and active burial sites, an accredited arboretum, exceptional educational and community resources, and unique recreational spaces. The Friends of Laurel Hill is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting the visual and historic character of both cemeteries through progressive interpretation, education and fundraising. Essential Functions:
Develop and Implement Annual Fund/Membership Strategies:
   » Craft and execute comprehensive annual giving and membership plan and calendar, including setting donor/member/revenue goals, identifying target donor segments, and integrating effective recruitment and retention strategies.
Manage Annual Fund and Membership Campaigns:
   » Spearhead the design, production, and distribution of compelling direct mail, email, and digital fundraising and membership campaigns. Craft compelling content, utilize email platforms and graphic design software, manage vendor relationships, budgets, and timelines to ensure prosperous campaign execution.
   » Collaborate with Director of Development to develop and implement planned giving communications to encourage gifts through bequests, retirement plans, donor advised funds and other creative giving tools.
Databases - Manage, Analyze, Report:
   » supervise donor and member database management, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and segmentation for targeted communications.
   » Analyze donor and member data to identify trends, measure campaign effectiveness, and inform future strategies.
   » Prepare reports for leadership abilities stakeholders on fundraising and membership performance.
Provide Exceptional Stewardship:
   » supervise all aspects of gifts processing, acknowledgment letters/emails, and fulfillment of membership benefits and collateral, including reconciliation of membership revenues and expenses.
   » Cultivate strong donor and member relationships through tabling at larger public and partner events, personalized communications, stewardship activities, and donor recognition programs. Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
Create prosperous Membership and Fundraising Events:
   » Collaborate with the Friends team to plan and execute membership and fundraising events. This includes managing event logistics, developing marketing and promotional materials, and implementing fundraising strategies to increase individual giving and corporate sponsorships.
   » Manage the Friends/Membership table at major public and partner events, serving as a primary point of contact for membership and donor inquiries and recruitment. Additionally, provide support to the Friends of Laurel Hill team in developing and executing public and community engagement programs.
Stay Informed:
   » Engage with colleagues across Laurel Hill to gain a strong knowledge of the organization's history, mission, strengths, needs, opportunities - in order to craft compelling content and develop significant membership and donor events and programs.
   » Maintain a strong knowledge of industry best practices by attending conferences, webinars, and professional development opportunities.
Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of two years related practice in fundraising, marketing, or related field.
   » Proven success in managing donor databases (Altru preferred).
   » practice in utilizing digital marketing tools like MailChimp and Canva, a plus.
   » Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and CRM software.
   » Familiarity with ACT and Altru data bases and fluency with wealth management systems is strongly desired.
   » Strong written and verbal communication expertise.
   » capability to work independently and as part of a team.
   » Must have a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
   » Some evening and weekend hours are required. Must have the capability to lift and carry boxes/tables/chairs weighing up to 50 lbs.
