Job Offer: Self-Help - ECU Transit Vehicle Operators:Rice UniversityJob description:Self-Help - ECU Transit Vehicle OperatorsBookmark this Posting Print Preview | Apply for this JobPosition DetailsPosition InformationAdvertising Department TRANSIT Academic Term/Year Fall 2024/Spring 2025 Position Title Self-Help - ECU Transit Vehicle Operators Posting Number 06298 Position Number 06298 Student Job Category Student - Self-Help Campus Job Number of Vacancies 100 Job Description ECU Department of Transit is currently seeking Vehicle Operators to execute the following tasks: » Complete a training course involving, but not limited to, online training, classroom training, written work, quizzes/tests, and behind-the-wheel training. » Familiarize self with system and safety features; geography and roadways of assigned routes and service areas; traffic rules, regulations, and laws. » Operate a transit vehicle to pick up, transport, and discharge passengers while adhering to the route schedule and maintaining a pleasant and courteous manner. » Provide information on bus services to customers, including bus schedules, routes, and local information. » Receive and transmit two-way radio communications regarding accidents, incidents, emergencies, criminal activities, or any other authorized ECU Transit business while utilizing judgment and discretion to ensure customer and individual safety. » Perform vehicle operations at variable times of day and night. May work outside regular business hours as required by service demands. » Operate a wheelchair lift, secure passengers' mobility devices, and assist passengers with disabilities with boarding, riding, and alighting in a safe manner including pushing a manual wheelchair up a steep ramp if necessary. » Write reports and complete forms as required. May prepare detailed written reports concerning accidents/incidents, breakdowns, and mechanical defects as required at the end of a shift. » Complete continuing training courses for professional development provided by ECU Transit during the duration of employment. » Work at least 18-20 hours per week, depending on service demands. » Work is primarily between 06:00 am to 01:00 am for both bus and On-Demand operators including some nights, weekends, holidays, and special events. Please view our webpage concerning employment at ECU Transit: https://transit.ecu.edu/i-want-to/apply-for-employment/ Preferred (Majors, practice, GPA, etc.) » Must be age 18 or older. » Must have held a valid North Carolina Driver's License for a minimum of one year. » candidates with out-of-state licenses must have the capability to switch to a North Carolina Driver's License. » Must have a clean driving history, with no suspensions and 3 points or less on Motor Vehicle Record and no moving violations within the last 12 months. » Must have a minimum 2.3 GPA. » Must have no drug or alcohol-related violations with the university within the last two years. » Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and continue to pass random drug and/or alcohol testing all over the duration of employment for bus operators. » Must be able to obtain a CDL Medical Card and Commercial Learner's Permit for bus operators. » Fees connected are reimbursed after completion of the training program » Must have availcapability to work for at least one year (Bus Operator candidates only).
