Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Technacl adjunct for the School of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position is for an internship in the Materials Synthesis and Characterization Facility in Owen Hall. The work will be focused on supporting and developing equipment and instruments for materials research, and supporting everyday lab operations. The ideal candidate will be able to interpret and follow instructions, work safely in a research lab environment, be equally enthusiastic about enhancing and supporting safety, everyday operations and technical projects. This internship will seek to develop a basic knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and materials processing equipment, and cover topics such as:
   » Gas properties, gauges and residual gas analyzers
   » Seals, chambers and vacuum materials
   » Pumps, conductance and vacuum levels
   » Gases and gas (mass) flow control
   » Thermal and electron beam evaporation and deposition energy
   » RF/DC Plasma
   » Physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition, reactive ion etching and thin film nucleation
   » Spin coating and wet etching
   » Lithography
Position tasks
   » Work with chemicals
   » Lift 25 pounds
   » Work on a ladder
   » Work in a cleanroom wearing basic cleanroom apparel and personal protective equipment
   » Hands on work using a variety of hand and power tools
   » Basic tasks to support everyday lab operations
   » Work on scientific equipment in a research lab environment, in particular vacuum processing equipment

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
