Job Summary The School of Public Policy invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, Tenure Track (Annual), adjunct Professor position. Appointment at the adjunct Professor rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the prosperous candidate. The ideal candidate will conduct research that enhances knowledge of the societal impacts of rapidly advancing technologies, such as robotics and artificial intelligence, within the context of the United States. Emphasis will be placed on candidates who can actively engage with the social dimensions of technology, exploring how technological advancements intersect with social values, ethics, minoritized groups, and other equity considerations. The position of adjunct Professor in Public Policy with a focus on Technology Policy, Science Policy, and/or AI Policy represents an expansion of the school's commitment to covering the complex intersections between emerging technologies and public governance. This position will conduct research that enhances knowledge of the societal impacts of rapidly advancing technologies, such as robotics and artificial intelligence, within the context of the United States. Key Responsibilities Research (45%) Teaching (45%) Service and Outreach (10%) What You Will Need » Ph.D. in Public Policy or a closely related field (e.g., Economics, Political Science, Sociology, etc.) with a specialization in Technology Policy, Science Policy, AI Policy, or a related area by the start of the appointment. » Demonstrated skills in rigorous empirical research to analyze and inform policy issues in technology, science, or AI. » Strong foundation in policy theory and program analysis, with a focus on knowledge the societal impacts of technology, including robotics and AI, particularly within the U.S. context. » practice with or capability to secure grant-funded research projects, as evidenced by previous grant submissions, awards, or demonstrated knowledge of the grant application process. » Commitment to teaching excellence at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with the capability to develop and teach courses in Science, Technology, and Policy that meet the needs of diverse students. » Strong interpersonal and communication skill s , with the capability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary environments and engage with stakeholders in policy discussions. » Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and service, with an knowledge of how technology intersects with social values, ethics, and equity issues. » Established or developing record of scholarly publications or presentations in technology, science, or AI policy, indicating potential for impact in the field.
