Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate goals.
Teaching, Advising, Curriculum and Instructional Development - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, advising and consultation, directing student research, curriculum and instructional development, and grading student work.
Scholarly Research, Creative, and Other Professional Activities - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in expanding the expertise base of her/his academic field by conducting research or engaging in other creative activities as appropriate to the faculty member's discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to research may include but are not limited to: research/creative activity that generates new expertise and/or synthesizes and/or integrates existing expertise, publication, an on-going agenda for research, scholarly, and creative activity, and are expected to seek extramural support for their work.
Service to University, the Public, and the Profession - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to engage in a program of service appropriate to their discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to service may include but are not limited to: service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession.

Essential tasks and Responsibilities The William States Lee College of Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites exceptionally qualified candidates for Three 9-month tenure-track or tenured faculty position at adjunct or Associate ranks in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering fields, with an anticipated start date of 2024 or August 2024. Candidates with diverse research interests such as those aligned with UNC Charlotte's areas of research focus and distinction are strongly encouraged to apply. Specifically, the department is expanding its research excellence in the following areas:

? Digital Transformation: Harnessing smart technologies enabling more intelligent, efficient, and sustainable systems through transformative concepts and processes in engineering. This spans from smart buildings and cities, remote sensing, cloud computing, to human - machine interfaces, digital twins, cybersecurity and other applications.

? Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI): Using AI to enhance robotics, manufacturing, autonomous systems, and intelligent decision & automation.

? Additive Manufacturing:Uses and application of rapid prototyping and manufacturing for electrical and mechanical systems applications like machinery, robotics, and automation

The prosperous candidate is expected to develop and sustain nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research programs specific to their area of specialty, publish in high-impact publication venues, promote students' high-impact learning practice through the integration of research and education, and engage in professional service. Responsibilities for this position include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the department, university, and the professional organizations, including outreach to industry.

The capcapability to teach typical electrical and/or mechanical engineering technology courses is expected. Candidates with the capability to teach courses in both fields are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum practice/Education UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, expertise and practice candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering/ Robotics /Mechanical Engineering/ Mechatronics / Automation, or a closely related field by the time of contract. Priority will be given to candidates with strong research records evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, externally funded research, and a plan for future research that aligns with university and department research focus stated above.
