Offer: Neighborhood Reporter:Colorado Public RadioJob description: Neighborhood Reporter Listing description Denverite is seeking a Neighborhood Reporter. About the Position: The Denverite Neighborhood Reporter will work on everyday turn stories as well as deeper dives, producing an average of 5 stories per week. The focus for this position will be on covering Denver neighborhoods and is critical to the local impact of Denverite. this function is expected to be deeply attuned to the neighborhood level of Denver news, finding interesting enterprise reporting and quicker turn stories that are significant to living, playing and working in the city. This position will cover the way people and families practice and envision their neighborhoods, the neighborhood feel, development plans that impact what is visible and familiar to people, and ways people can connect with each other and lgain about their area and others nearby. The reporter will cover Denver in ways that reflect and represent the city's diversity, including a focus on underrepresented communities. They will also work in conjunction with radio editors to produce spots and radio feature stories that are significant to CPR's statewide audience. This position requires regular work at CPR's offices in downtown Denver, in addition to work in the house. This position's required schedule is regular hours Monday - Friday with occasional night and weekend work as assigned. About You: You are a responsive, adaptable and reliable reporter, interested in how neighborhoods shape a city. You have a fast metabolism for producing stories that reflect what's happening, an eagerness to cover breaking news, and a desire to create enterprise stories that start conversations about important neighborhood issues. You're committed to diversity and inclusivity in sourcing and are able to develop a wide variety of sources from diverse communities. You're a creative storyteller who leads their work with enthusiastic curiosity. You're also an excellent collaborator who likes to work with other reporters on projects to better your own work. Minimum Appropriate qualifications: » A minimum of 3 years journalism practice producing both quicker, everyday turn stories and enterprise pieces that can get conversations going about issues in a beat. This practice should also include - » A demonstrated history of telling creative stories that adapt to a publication's voice and speak to varied, real, human practices. » practice developing a wide variety of sources from diverse communities. » practice coming up with story ideas as well as responding quickly to the occasional assignment. » Strong collaboration expertise and practice working with other reporters on projects. » A demonstrated capability to meet deadlines, switch between tasks as necessary and work in a fast-paced digital environment. » Excellent verbal and written communication expertise with a strong attention to detail. » A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required as this function needs access to reliable transportation to respond with urgency to news events.
