Yes Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. The School of Public Health and Nutrition invites applications for a full-time 1.00 FTE, 12-month, fixed-term, Faculty Research adjunct position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the School Head. This position provides research assistance to promote prosperous completion of on-going research projects of the Dallas Bioactive Dairy Peptide lab. The Dallas Lab is managed by David Dallas and is housed in the College of Health at Oregon State University. The primary function of this position is to assist with laboratory work and writing/editing manuscripts for publication and grants for submission. The incumbent will work with and under the direction of Dr. David Dallas. Primary responsibilities involve performing laboratory work for current and upcoming research experiments, developing training resources, SOPs, etc. for assays and techniques, and contributing to written reports, manuscripts, grant proposals, etc. The work environment is highly collaborative, including faculty, post-doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students. Dallas lab personnel work with members of other research groups at Oregon State University and Dairy industry members. Work for this position is performed remotely. Key Responsibilities 70% Laboratory Work: » Assist with on-going and up-coming research projects by performing laboratory work. » Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data generated, implementing quality checks and correction processes. » Provide support in the preparation of other's research projects, supplying essential assay/technique feedback. » Utilize intern support where appropriate. 20% Writing Contributions: » Assist faculty, post-doctoral researchers, graduate, and undergraduate students in scientific written materials for research projects/reports. » Establish training resources, SOPs, etc. for lab techniques used so that expertise transfer is provided to other researchers. » Contribute to grant proposals as needed. 5% Assistance in Research Projects: » Assist faculty, post-doctoral researchers, graduate, and undergraduate students in their respective research projects as needed. 5% Other tasks as Assigned: » The tasks and responsibilities listed above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. What You Will Need » Bachelor's degree in nutrition, food science, biochemistry, chemistry, biology, or a related field. » At least 2 years practice working in a laboratory. » Demonstration of strong oral and written communication. » Strong interpersonal expertise. » capability to work independently following the direction of research protocols. » capability to work with researchers with a wider range of skill sets (post-doctoral to undergraduate). » Demonstrated capability to work productively in independent and collaborative team settings. » Demonstrated capability to manage projects including progress updates, meet deadlines, problem solve, and prioritize tasks. » practice working effectively with diverse groups of students, researchers, and staff. Working Conditions / Work Schedule Work will be performed primarily in a laboratory setting. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday.
