Position Summary The Center for Advocacy, avoidance & Education (CAPE) Peer Education Program centers student voice and leadership abilities in gender-located violence avoidance and sexual health promotion efforts at Oregon State, helping equip our community with the expertise, expertise and resources to cultivate a campus culture of care and consent and prevent gender-located violence from occurring in the first place. CAPE Peer Educators work collaboratively to develop peer-led educational initiatives, workshops, outreach events, and activities centered on violence avoidance and sexual health. Please note that this position does not include working directly with survivors or providing peer advocacy services. However, supporting survivors by helping cultivate a trauma-informed, survivor-centered campus environment through education, consciousness and outreach is at the heart of this position. This position is compensated at $15.90 per hour, with scheduled raises after each year served in the position.

Position tasks CAPE Peer Educators design, implement and evaluate peer-led primary avoidance programming. This includes facilitating and developing educational content on gender-located violence avoidance, bystander intervention, consent, sexual health, healthy relationships, healthy sexuality, and survivor support. Examples of specific Peer Educator responsibilities include:
   » Facilitating educational workshops
   » Tabling
   » Planning and hosting events with campus and community partners
   » Planning and implementing programming for existing health promotion initiatives as assigned, including Domestic Violence consciousness Month (DVAM), Stalking avoidance and consciousness Month (SPAM), and Sexual Assault consciousness & Action Month (SAAM)
   » Assisting in updating gender-located violence avoidance and education curricula and presentation materials
   » Working with CAPE staff and the Student Health Services marketing team to create social media and marketing materials and messaging related to peer education programming
   » Conducting outreach to maintain existing partnerships and create new partnerships with both on- and off-campus organizations
   » Assisting the Sexual Health team in maintaining the distribution of safer sex supplies, including stocking and tracking safer sex supplies at Safer Sex Spot locations across campus
   » Supporting the avoidance & Education Team, the CAPE Team, and the Student Health Services Team
   » Other tasks as assigned

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

   » capability to attend CAPE Peer Educator training in-person on Saturday, November 23rd and Sunday, November 24th from 9am-5pm
   » capability to complete NASPA Certified Peer Educator (CPE) Training online
   » capability to commit to 8 hours per week during the academic year (tasks performed in-person at the CAPE office)

   » Current OSU student
   » practice leading presentations and facilitating discussions with peers
   » practice in gender-located violence avoidance and education
   » Comfort discussing topics related to gender-located violence avoidance, including but not limited to: consent, healthy sexuality, boundaries, power dynamics, social norms, gender-located violence, and bystander intervention
   » practice delivering workshops and programs to student groups in a variety of contexts
   » practice with assessment and program evaluation
   » practice as a peer educator
   » practice with training and curriculum development
   » practice tabling at campus and community events
   » practice working directly with student populations
