St. Joseph’s University is a century-old, independent, coeducational institution, located in Brooklyn, Long Island, and online. The University offers more than 45 undergraduate majors, pre professional and certificate programs, and a variety of graduate degrees.  
The University is seeking someone to serve as Coordinator of Accessibility and Associate Director of the Academic Center. The Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and evaluating documentation and diagnostic information to determine reasonable accommodations for students with varying disabilities. The Coordinator will collaborate with faculty and staff to provide accommodations, improve accessibility, and promote an inclusive learning environment. The Academic Center part of this position includes superviseing the tutoring staff and ensuring tutors are available for all students. This position reports directly to the Executive Director for Student Success. Information technology is an in-person, on-campus job, with hours ordinarily from 9:00-5:00, Monday-Friday, at our Clinton Hill, Brooklyn campus.  

tasks and responsibilities include:

   » Interpreting, advising and enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for students with disabilities entering and admitted to St. Joseph’s University.
   » Determining student eligibility and identifying appropriate and reasonable academic, campus, and housing accommodations in conformity with federal law and industry standards.
   » Serving as a liaison and engaging in an interactive process with students with disabilities, faculty, and other campus entities to ensure implementation of reasonable accommodations.
   » Ensuring accurate and secure data management and use of reporting tools.
   » Maintaining up-to-date information on effective services and developing initiatives and programs to enhance existing services.
   » Providing direction, vision, coordination, and assessment of professional and peer tutoring services for all students who use the Academic Center.
   » Developing, scheduling and promoting academic support workshops, or other tutoring or workshop services for particular departmental or course-specific needs.
   » Coordinating the Enrichment Program (CEP) for students who upon admission require a more formal academic support framework.
   » Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

   » Bachelor’s degree.
   » capability to work collaboratively and constructively with a range of members of the academic community (e.g., undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff).
   » Able to prioritize and work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
   » capability to exercise discretion and arbitrate situations when needed.
   » Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication expertise.

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

   » Some managery practice and demonstrated leadership abilities expertise.
   » practice in a student support/success function.
   » practice working with students who need accommodations in a higher education setting.

income range:  $62,400 annually
