Minimum Qualifications· Master's degree in Spanish OR a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Spanish language and literature· Teaching practice · capability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing · Working expertise/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
Preferred Qualifications· An additional 18 graduate hours in one or more of the following Required languages French, German, Russian, Italian, American Sign Language, or Mandarin Chinese· One academic year of full-time teaching practice or a part-time teaching equivalent at the college level · Familiarity with course management systems such as Canvas · Demonstrated innovation within the field of education and/or technology · Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making expertise · Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the capability to handle high-pressure environments · Evidence of a availability to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth
Position DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Foreign Language Faculty is a 9-month position located primarily on theOCHCampus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Department Chair for Arts and Humanities, the Foreign Language Faculty provides quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations in the Associate in Arts, Associate in Arts Teacher Prep, Associate in Science, Associate in Science Teacher Prep, Associate in Fine Arts, and Associate in Applied Science programs. This individual has responsibility for teaching and learning, curriculum development, advising, professional development, institutional service, and community relations. Job tasks · Exhibit an uncompromising commitment toSPCCas a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core expertise and learning results, and delivery of instruction and services · Develop learning strategies and curricula that will promote prosperous teaching and learning in a learning-centered environment · Facilitate learning through classroom activities, distance learning practices, workforce development, co-curricular and out-of-classroom activities · Select and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency · Stay current with developments in the field of technology and learning theory · Actively participate in continuous improvement planning through the assessment of learning results at the course and program levels · Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college · Accept teaching assignments, located on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or a corrections setting (Anson county) · Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online · Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college · Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in conformity with the philosophy of a learning-centered college · Participate in program reviews, conduct research and surveys, and prepare updates, reports, and plans · Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position · Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities · Participate in or support the mentoring process, theSPCCFoundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation · Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community · Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of program and college improvement · Perform other tasks as assigned by the immediate manager, the dean, or the Vice President
