Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Department of Pharmacology consists of 13 full-time faculty members, nine full-time research technicians, three postdoctoral scientists, two full-time administrative staff, and 13 graduate students. The department teaches pharmacology, therapeutics, and toxicology to medical, dental, graduate, and nursing students. A wide variety of specialized courses are also taught for graduate students. The educational objective of the department is to provide a sound basic foundation upon which medical and dental students may build rational approaches to drug therapy regardless of the area of clinical specialization. The graduate program through the Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology and Toxicology Concentration, is broadly located to prepare students for careers in academics, research, government, industry, and medicine.

Job tasks The College is seeking candidates for short-term, fixed-term faculty (.74 FTE or less) for one or more semesters during the upcoming academic year.

Contingent upon the availcapability of funds

Minimum Education/practice Master's degree in a related field; All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation N/A

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Doctoral degree in pharmacology or toxicology or a closely related discipline. Teaching practice at the University or College level. Familiarity with UME (undergraduate medical education) therapeutics curriculum.
