Work Schedule 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, Five days per week.
The selected candidate is eligible for a 10% shift differential located upon assigned work hours.

Variable days off in conformity with event and project schedules. This position will also require working 1st shift hours depending on events and projects needs. Work schedule may be adjusted to accommodate event support or special projects on nights and weekends. This position is designated mandatory staff during adverse weather or emergency events. In the event of an area disaster, the Student Activity Center may be designated an emergency shelter or for emergency operations.

Primary Purpose of Position Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs on facility and arena equipment, facility structures and facility components as needed. Maintain and service all major arena equipment. Maintain a fully operational shop by inventory control and keeping a clean work area.

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. practice in the trade(s) areas related to the position's function may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Job tasks
   » Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on arena equipment and facility components as needed.
   » Provide mechanical and maintenance support for events and everyday activities.
   » Follow the Preventative Maintenance Program and complete Work Requests to ensure that components of the facility and equipment are given the maximum life expectancy.
   » Perform mechanical tasks and repairs as needed.
   » Performs routine or repetitive tasks completely and accurately such as painting, replacing door hardware, and lightbulbs, and basic repairs on tables, chairs, and other arena equipment.
   » Follow proper procedures and techniques in the performance of tasks to eliminate or reduce to the greatest extent possible any safety hazards.
Other Work Responsibilities
   » Be expertiseable of the fire panel system and operations.
   » Be able to complete non-routine projects with the assistance/guidance of the maintenance manager.
   » Communicating with customers and management about how issues are being resolved.

Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education
   » Two or more years of progressive practice in the performance of tasks connected with one or more assigned trades, including two years of contributing-level work in at least one building trade; or an equivalent combination of training and practice.
   » Two or more years of practice in a Corporate or University environment.
   » practice in painting, plastering, plumbing, maintenance, and repair.
   » capability to use and care for mechanical and power hand tools including, but not limited to, saws (hand, band, radial, table, and miter), drills and drill presses, sanders, pipe threaders, paint applicators, ladders, lifts, planes, and routers.
   » Proficient computer expertise (MS Office suite, email, mainframe applications).
   » capability to troubleshoot plumbing systems, as well as use tools necessary to prepare work surfaces for paint and other finishes.
   » Strong organizational expertise documented by prior practice.
   » Excellent verbal and written communication expertise.
   » expertise of symbols and principles involved in plans, blueprints, and drawings.
   » Understands and complies with University Safety, State, and OSHA requirements and reading safety manuals.
   » capability to develop collaborative relationships.
   » capability to measure materials or distances.
   » Physical strength is sufficient to execute medium-level tasks up to 50 pounds of bulk weight to a level equal to the height of the applicant's waist.

Certificate or Associate's Degree in the related trades field preferred.

   » Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or practice criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
