Min Hourly Rate $14.70 (Standard); $13.70 (Non-Urban); $15.95 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $20.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill 3 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Production Associate: Student Stage Technician I positions for the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) at Oregon State University (OSU). PRAx Associates will work as stagehands, sound and lighting adjuncts and basic crew for performances and programs at the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts. Associates will receive training and prior practice is not required. Student employees will be required to lgain and follow safety policies and procedures of PRAx. The position requires a demonstrated high level of discretion and sense of appropriateness, capability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor when working in stressful situations, as well as excellent communication and customer service expertise. PRAx employees are expected to use good judgement, to conduct themselves professionally while at work, to follow the guidelines for proper work attire, and to be punctual and reliable. This is a pooled posting. That means Information technology will stay open for several months and we will pull candidates from the ?pool? for interviews as openings occur, until the closing date, and possibly beyond. Reports to: Senior Venue Technical Manager Varied schedule, up to 24 hours per week. Preference given to those who can work 12-24 hours a week. These positions will require evening and weekend work. Position tasks Support all aspects of back of house/production, which may include: » Hanging and focusing lights » Running cables » Operating follow spots » Operating audio equipment » Moving equipment and furniture » Operation of video equipment » Changeovers of the black box theatre configuration » Maintaining administrative systems and organization » Loading and unloading equipment from various spaces » Setting up the stage » Operating lighting equipment » Clean up: picking up venue spaces, sweeping and mopping stage, stowing equipment in its proper places, resetting spaces for the next users » Reading or interpreting stage plots » Taping down cords and/or carpeting » Potentially driving for work, picking up and/or dropping off equipment » Other tasks as assigned Physical demands: »Climbing , ascending or descending from a ladder, stairs scaffolding, etc. »Bending or stooping; bending downward and forward by bending spine at waist or by bending » leg/spine. »Twisting ; tuning the upper body while maintaining a stationary at lower body position. »Kneeling; bending at the knee to come to a rest on knee or knees »Crawling ; moving about on hands and knees or hand and feet. »Reaching ; extending hand(s) and arm(s) overhead, lower or horizontally of the body. »Standing ; particularly for extending periods of time. »Sitting ; particularly for extending periods of time. »Walking ; moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Preferred (Special) Qualifications » Previous practice working in sound, lighting, theater, live performance, and customer service a current driver's license with driving practice, » A clean driving record, and availability to drive personal and/or university vehicles on PRAx-related business. » Preference given to students who can commit to working 12-24 hours/week regularly.
