Job Summary University Facilities, Infrastructure, and Operation (UFIO) is seeking a Director of Energy Management. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE),12-month, professional faculty position.

The Director of Energy Management is responsible for leading and superviseing the energy management program, policies, and initiatives for the institution. The Director of Energy Management is pivotal in steering the institution towards sustainable energy practices. this function encompasses a broad range of responsibilities and collaborative efforts. In their leadership abilities capacity, the Director of Energy Management works closely with the senior leadership abilities, faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement strategies to reduce energy consumption, costs, and greenhouse gas emissions across the campus. This collaborative approach ensures that all stakeholders are engaged in the institution's sustaincapability goals, fostering a culture of energy consciousness and responsibility.

The Director of Energy Management is also responsible for managing the energy budget, contracts, and performance reporting, and ensures compliance with significant regulations and standards. They ensure that all energy management activities adhere to federal, state, and local laws, as well as institutional policies. This compliance not only safeguards the institution from legal and regulatory risks but also reinforces its commitment to ethical and responsible practices. The Director of Energy Management plays a crucial function in promoting sustaincapability, reducing operational costs, and enhancing the institution's environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Energy Program Development and Management (63%)
   » Develop and execute a comprehensive energy management plan that aligns with the institution's mission, vision, and goals, and supports its academic, research, and operational excellence.
   » Identify, prioritize, and implement energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable energy projects and programs, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and evaluate their technical and financial practiccapability, impact, and return on investment (ROI).
   » Manage and optimize the energy budget, procurement, and contracts, and negotiate with utility, service, and equipment providers to secure the best rates and incentives.
   » Prepare and present regular and ad hoc energy performance reports and dashboards to the senior leadership abilities, board of trustees, and other audiences, and communicate the institution's energy achievements and challenges.
   » Monitor and analyze the energy performance of the institution's buildings, systems, and equipment, using various tools and methods, such as energy audits, benchmarking, metering, and energy management and information systems (EMIS).

External Outreach (7%)
   » Lead and participate in energy-related committees, working groups, and task forces, and represent the institution in external energy forums, networks, and partnerships.
   » Promote and foster a culture of energy consciousness, education, and engagement among the institution's community, and develop and implement energy outreach and recognition programs and campaigns.

Energy Policy Creation, Maintenance, and Compliance (13%)
   » Establish and maintain energy policies, standards, and best practices, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local energy regulations and codes, as well as voluntary programs and certifications, such as ENERGY STAR, LEED, and AASHE STARS.

leadership abilities and Supervision (12%)
   » Supervise and coordinate the activities of the energy management team, including energy engineers, analysts, technicians, and consultants, and provide guidance, training, and feedback.
   » Plans, assigns, and reviews work, establishes goals for each position and assess performance through completion of evaluations; hires, trains, promotes employees; disciplines or effectively recommends discipline up to and including dismissal; and address grievances, developing a framework for corrective actions as necessary.

What You Will Need
   » Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy management, construction management, environmental science, operations management, or related field.
   » Five years of practice in at least one of the following fields: energy, facilities, infrastructure, mechanical systems, construction management, data analysis, or other related field.
   » Demonstrated expertise and work with energy efficiency, conservation, renewable energy technologies and practices, infrastructure, construction, operations management, data analysis, or related fields.
   » Strong leadership abilities, management, and interpersonal expertise with the capability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
   » Excellent oral and written communication, presentation expertise, and capability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
   » High level of initiative, creativity, and problem-solving expertise, and capability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
   » Commitment to Oregon State University's values of excellence, innovation, collaboration, sustaincapability, and diversity.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

What We Would Like You to Have
   » Master's degree in engineering, energy management, environmental sciences, or related field
   » Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), or equivalent certification
   » Proficient in using energy data analysis, modeling, and reporting tools and software, such as EMIS, EnergyCAP, eQuest, Portfolio Manager, or similar systems
   » Five years of progressive practice in energy operations management
Working Conditions / Work Schedule Working conditions include a combination of office and on-site project visits. Project visits may have exposure to inclement weather and high noise level. Will need to lift boxes up to 30 pounds unassisted, bend and twist, and work at a computer for extended periods of time.

Occasional weekend and evening work required.
