Work Schedule Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 12pm - 8:30pm; hours can flex to cover events events and weekends . This is a permanent, 40-hour per week,10-month position (Feb-Nov).

Primary Purpose of Position The Outdoor Events Coordinator is an integral part of the everyday operations of the Popp Martin Student Union and Cone University Center at UNC Charlotte, and is responsible for outdoor event operations, event support, student development, and an overall program of high-end customer support. They supervise event production needs and works closely with student staff and clients to ensure the prosperous operation of outdoor venues and event spaces. The Outdoor Events Coordinator develops and manages student staff, in conjunction with other professional staff, including selection, training, recognition and evaluation. The position collaborates effectively with Operations, Facilities Management, AV/Technical Services, Administration, and Reservations to ensure excellence at all times. Hours for this position vary located on the needs of events and can include nights and weekends. This position spends a significant amount of time in an outdoor environment. This position will also support Cone University Center operations for approximately 10 hours per week, or more, depending on event schedules.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 12pm - 8:30pm; hours can flex to cover events events and weekends . This is a permanent, 40-hour per week,10-month position (Feb-Nov).

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and practice. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and practice.

Essential Job tasks
   » supervise all aspects of the outdoor event operations on campus.
   » supervise, with CRES, the scheduling of outdoor spaces to ensure accuracy of diagrams and information provided to clients. Assist the Reservations Office to update and provide event information through 25Live Software in an effort to provide accurate setup, teardown, and operational details; report any reservation discrepancies, cancellations, or extraordinary events.
   » Manage all human resource functions, directly or indirectly, for five to twelve (5-12) student employees, including, but not limited to, selection, hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, evaluation, counseling and disciplinary action.
   » supervise inventory management of outdoor event equipment.
   » Serve as onsite coordinator for outdoor events, ensure equipment is set according to information provided.
   » Actively participate in, with the student staff, the load in, setup, and load out of event equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
   » Provide support to Cone University Center operations under the direction of the adjunct Director of Operations.
   » Communicate with campus Facilities Management as necessary to ensure spaces are clean and maintained.
   » Must have a valid driver's license and pass all university vehicle operator tests.
   » Provide excellent customer service to ensure prosperous results.
   » availability to work a flexible schedule outside of normal working hours, to include nights and weekends, and located on programmatic and building needs. availability to work substantial hours in an outdoor environment.
Other Work Responsibilities
   » Collaborate with the other area managers to coordinate and administer a comprehensive series of development opportunities, staff training, and recognition/compensate programs for student staff.
   » Maintain AV setup and AV system knowledge to assist in basic event operations and troubleshooting.
   » Assist in the development and implementation of risk management and safety functions connected with the operational aspects of outdoor events and spaces on campus. supervise risk management of outdoor operations, including safety protocols for setting equipment, driving vehicles, and monitoring the safety of staff and equipment all over the duration of the events or activities.
   » Provide recommendations to adjunct Director of Operations, Cone Center for outdoor event operations policies and standards of practice.
   » Maintain familiarity with campus systems, such as Archibus, as necessary.
   » Complete all necessary reports and forms, such as event tech reports and monthly reports.
   » With adjunct Director, work to develop any new forms, SOPs, MOUs or other documents needed for prosperous outdoor event operations.
Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education
   » 0-2 years' practice in a Student Center, Student Union or Student Activities environment (including graduate school) developing operations, facilities, or student training initiatives.
   » practice in an event-driven environment, outdoor and/or university settings preferred.
   » Knowledge and knowledge of the function of a Student Union on a college campus.
   » Strong organizational expertise and attention to detail, documented by prior practice.
   » Excellent verbal and written communication expertise.
   » capability to effectively supervise student employees.
   » availability and flexibility to work with students in unstructured situations at variable hours and weekends.
   » capability to develop collaborative relationships; excellent interpersonal and human resource management expertise.
