This is a State Scaling Grant from the Department of Education (U.S. Department of Education). REI is the regional implementation partner tasked with the strategic growth and leadership abilities of the community schools expansion model in eastern North Carolina. In this model, Full-Service Community Schools partner with families and community organizations through these Four Pillars: 1) Integrated Student Supports, 2) Expanded and Enriched Learning Time and Opportunities, 3) Active Family and Community Engagement, and 4) Collaborative leadership abilities and Practices. Job tasks The major responsibilities are to support the implementation of the full-service community school strategy at the school site level. The Community School Coordinator will conduct an broad needs and assets assessment and work with the school's inclusive leadership abilities team (and a broad range of school staff, families, administrators, and community partners) to develop and implement a strategic plan located on the results of that assessment. The Community School Coordinator will initiate, facilitate, and maintain programs at the school level aligned with the district strategic plan and develop and further the wisest use of community resources to create optimal impact by enhancing community and individual assets, meeting critical needs, and promoting long-term collective solutions. In the performance of tasks, the Community School Coordinator will utilize performance, project, and operations management as well as community partnership development. The Community School Coordinator will use leadership abilities, critical thinking, and teamwork to accomplish tasks of the position. The Community School Coordinator will maintain a presence in the school district. The Community School Coordinator reports to the REI Associate Director of Community School Coordinators. tasks include but are not limited to a) conducting needs and assets assessment; b) develop strategic plan for community schools; c) facilitate programs aligned with the strategic plan; d) utilization of management tools for record keeping and data collection; e) producing quarterly and yearly reports; f) support school and community partners. tasks also include the following: leadership abilities (20%): Responsible for a) liaison to the school district and providing effective communications with school and community partners to ensure strong partnerships, b) collaborating with REI faculty, c) liaison for Community Schools partners. Development (20%): Responsible for a) collaborating with REI grant team to conduct needs and assets assessment for Community Schools development, b) development and facilitation of strategic plan related to Community Schools, c) coordinating related resources for the school district. Marketing and Communication (20%): Responsible for coordinating and preparing various products for publication including briefs, policy reports, summaries, blogs and other content for e-newsletters, social media and web sites. Partnership (20%): Responsible for a) organizing and coordinating related services and trainings, b)monitoring and updating resources used by partners and families, c) documenting required and on-going training, d) cultivating new community collaborations in school. Evaluation and Grant Management (20%): Responsible for a) assisting with day-to-day management, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of Community Schools initiative, b) coordinating and tracking project timelines, meetings, and goals, c) collaborating with REI and the school district to develop resources and products specified in grant deliverables, d) facilitating the coordination of the project annual report. Positions are contingent upon available funding. Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's degree and one year of practice related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and practice. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation None Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Preferred working expertise of K-12 school processes and practices. expertise, expertise, and practice developing community supports in schools. Strong interpersonal expertise including networking with K-12 setting (students, parents, and administrators), community members, collaborating with university grant partners, and university grant team members.
