Minimum Qualifications

   » Candidates must hold an Associate's degree or coursework from a regionally accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, and 1 to 3 years of related practice in a business office environment; or any equivalent combination of training and practice that demonstrates the knowledge, expertise, and abilities required to execute the essential job functions in an efficient and effective manner.
   » Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
   » Must be detail oriented
   » Must be willing and able to lgain new processes quickly
   » Must be adaptable to fast paced environment

Position Description

Under general supervision, an employee in this position has primary responsibility for preparing, maintaining, and processing accounting records and financial transactions related to payroll for the Business Services Department of the College. tasks related to this position primarily focus on the reconciling and processing of payroll for full-time and part-time employees, processing and coordinating all payroll-related data, and assisting the Business Services Department and College employees with the resolution of payroll discrepancies. tasks assigned may vary according to the specific needs of the Division and/or allocation of workload.

Essential tasks:
   » Verify and process payroll-related forms and maintain confidential personnel files.
   » Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies during the monthly reconciliation of payroll.
   » Responsible for monthly payroll projections for Cash Certifications.
   » Process and coordinate all payroll data including wage rates, time sheets, withholdings, benefits, etc., and review payroll to ensure accuracy.
   » Reconcile and run payroll process for full-time and part-time employees.
   » Responsible for calculating payouts and prorated employee pay.
   » Responsible for manual calculations and data entry of part-time faculty contract pay.
   » Coordinate with respective divisions across campus to ensure the timely submission of payroll.
   » Assist employees with payroll issues by answering inquiries and providing information to resolve payroll discrepancies.
   » Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure the timely processing of new hires, terminations, and other changes.
   » Prepare and submit quarterly unemployment reports.
   » Prepare and submit monthly retirement reports the N.C. State Treasurer's Office.
   » Prepare and submit the monthly Bureau of Labor Statistics report.
   » Prepare and submit the quarterly Multiple Worksite Report for the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
   » Prepare and submit quarterly short-term discapability report to the N.C. Community College System Office.
   » Prepare and issue annual W-2 tax forms.
   » Assist in record retention and disposal processes for payroll-related forms and documentation.
   » Maintain knowledge and knowledge of the College's guidelines and policies regarding payroll, timeframes, payroll deductions, and time sheets.
   » Perform other tasks as assigned, including project and committee work.
   » Cross-train on other Finance / Business Office functions as assigned.
Physical Demands:
   » Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
   » Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
