Job Summary OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track full or part-time Instructor positions to teach on a term by term basis for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The intention of this pool is to collect applications for current or future opportunities and does not necessarily imply a position is available at this time. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Instructors may be needed to teach on campus undergraduate courses in the following area(s): Biology. The position will be dedicated to the instruction, organization and development of both Biology Majors and Non-majors laboratories. If hired into a term appointment, the anticipated start date(s) are September 16, 2024, December 16, 2024 or March 16, 2025.

The primary mission of the Biology Program is to provide undergraduate level education and the curriculum encompasses most standard fields of the discipline. This position is designed to foster critical thinking, advance student's expertise and expertise through the teaching of various discipline/courses. The incumbent(s) are expected to provide an intellectual foundation for students concerning the discipline. The courses serve students in degree programs.

OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,100 students in bachelor's and master's degree programs. Key Responsibilities 95% Administer and teach course(s) term-by-term in one or more of these disciplines:
Natural Sciences, Biology and Chemistry

Complete course assessment processes and continuously improve teaching effectiveness.

Activities directly related to the education and curricular achievement of students through instruction, assessment and the curation of the program's student learning results.Teach undergraduate credit courses as assigned. This includes (if applicable) in-class activities, connected laboratory and/or field practices, class administration, and holding regular office hours, in keeping with the highest professional standards for instruction.

Develop curriculum and/or revise courses aimed at improving student success.

Demonstrate sustained commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive learning environment for all students.

Provide students with the tools and expertise to achieve course student learning results.

Evaluation and purchase of appropriate laboratory course materials in cooperation with academic leadership abilities.

5% Participate in advising and mentoring students:

Advise students, be available for regular office hours, complete record-keeping and minor administrative tasks, including assignment of grades.

What You Will Need Master's degree in one of the fields listed (or a related field) is a requirement: Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Anatomy and Physiology, or Molecular Biology.

Demonstrated prosperous independent university level instructional practice, including curriculum development in Biology courses.

Excellent written and oral communication expertise.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to Have PhD or terminal degree in one of the fields listed above (or a closely related field).

Teaching practice at the college or university level, a strong commitment to undergraduate education and equity, and service to students.

Minimum of three years of demonstrated prosperous independent university level instructional practice, including curriculum development in foundational Biology courses.

Minimum of three years of demonstrated prosperous instruction of introductory undergraduate Biology lecture and laboratory courses.
