The Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Faculty Research adjunct position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

This position is seated within OSU's College of Science within the Biochemistry and Biophysics department. The College of Science is committed to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion in all research efforts.

This faculty research adjunct (FRA) position will provide research support for the laboratory. The incumbent in this FRA position will report to the principal investigator.

The purpose of this position is to collect and provide objective, science-located information in biochemistry and/or biophysics related to protein chemistry and molecular and cell biology. The researcher is involved in scholarly activities, conducting bench research (wet lab), contributing to, and authoring publications.

Key Responsibilities 70%: Design, conduct, and write research on dynein structure and regulation biochemical, biophysical and Drosophila cell culture techniques. Work on recombinant viral proteins and develop methods for virus production. The incumbent will be expected to draw conclusions, and prepare written reports that will be part of manuscripts, and give presentations.

20%: Prepare reports and data analysis/conclusions for use in peer-reviewed publications or for presentation in conferences. While maintaining an continuing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

10%: Maintain lab organization, maintain equipment and cell lines.

What You Will Need Bachelor's Degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or related field.

practice with baculovirus protein expression and Drosophila genetics

practice with protein biochemistry and various protein production and purification techniques

practice with cloning using various molecular biology techniques

Demonstrated capability to work collaborative in a team environment.

practice designing or implementing research protocols.

capability to maintain confidentiality.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to Have Previous practice in an academic research laboratory.

practice analyzing data, creating graphs or charts for publication or presentations.
