Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity.

The School of Civil and Construction Engineering, invites applications for a part-time (0.50 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Faculty Research adjunct position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the School Head.

This position supports projects administered by Dr. Parichehr Salimifard in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering in College of Engineering. The Faculty Research adjunct (FRA) will provide field work and laboratory support for research projects. The Faculty Research adjunct will work in the lab and/or on field research activities to help with various tasks including, but not limited to, building mechanical systems and indoor and outdoor air quality research equipment design and setup, data collection, analysis, general laboratory support and maintenance, and general research grant support. The FRA will maintain organized and accurate research documentation and assist in the preparation of research reports, academic publications, and presentations. The FRA will assist with project management and coordinating lab activities, including project timelines, resource allocation, and communication with stakeholders. Specific tasks and work schedule vary located on the lab and project needs.

   » Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Architectural Engineering-Mechanical Engineering Track, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or other related STEM discipline.
   » practice managing activities within a research lab, executing QALPs, and managing lab safety.
   » Computer related expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
   » Excellent written and verbal, interpersonal, and organizational expertise.
   » Strong decision-making abilities.
   » Self-directed, motivated, and prosperous at meeting project deadlines.
   » Strong attention to detail.
   » capability to work independently and as part of a team.
   » practice working effectively with diverse groups of students, researchers, and staff.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

What We Would Like You to Have
   » Master's degree from an accredited institution in a science discipline.
   » practice in indoor air quality, aerosol science, and HVAC labs.
   » practice in instrumentation and sensing and setting up local and cloud-located data acquisition.
   » practice with setting up LabVIEW-located automatic control systems.
   » significant research practice including data collection, data management, data analysis, and contributing to scholarly activities such as research reports, and peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
   » Prior work practice with undergraduate and graduate students.
   » Computer related expertise in Stata, SAS, R, or statistical and data management practice.
   » Strong programming and data analysis expertise and practice with R/MATLAB/Python.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
   » Schedule may vary located on the project's needs.
   » There may be work that is required outside of normal hours for sample collection.
   » Majority of the lab research will be conducted in a laboratory setting.
   » Work in a semi-open environment subject to colder temperatures during the winter, warm and humid conditions in the summer. May require sitting or standing for longer periods of time.
   » Travel in state and out of state for assisting with field research projects, as needed.
