Weyerhaeuser is seeking an Environmental Manager to support forestry operations in the Northern Timberlands (NTL) Region. This critical function involves managing environmental regulatory risk and ensuring compliance across Weyerhaeuser’s 1.2 million acres in West Virginia, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. As the Environmental Manager, you will act as a liaison to Environmental Safety Managers within Timberlands, Government Affairs, Sustaincapability, Strategy and Technology, Legal, and more, ensuring alignment on objectives and implementing proactive strategies to protect environmental and social values for the long term. You will also focus on balancing business, social, and environmental interests to address complex natural resource issues. The ideal candidate will effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including those with varying personalities, disciplines, and perspectives.

You will serve as a key member of the Northern Timberlands (NTL) leadership abilities Team and report directly to the NTL General Manager. this function will be located out of Bingham, Maine or Greenville, Maine with consideration given to Lancaster, New Hampshire. 

Key Functions
   » Providing support to NTL Operations, ensuring environmental leadership abilities and a strong culture of sustaincapability in our operating areas
   » Ensuring compliance with environmental laws, conservation agreements, and company policies, including maintaining certification with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)
   » Being proactive and forward-thinking to identify and manage environmental risks and develop innovative solutions for various Weyerhaeuser businesses (Timberlands, Natural Climate Solutions, Energy & Natural Resources, Real Estate), including conservation plans, easements, collaborative research opportunities, and partnerships with conservation organizations
   » Interacting with state and federal regulatory agencies to influence and interpret environmental regulations and policies impacting the timberlands business
   » Representing Weyerhaeuser in industry trade associations and public forums
   » Collaborating and aligning with internal teams to prioritize research with universities and scientific organizations, support sustaincapability initiatives focused on making a significant difference by 2030, and provide perspective on policy topics primarily in Maine and Vermont; geographical diversity supporting policy topics is valued.

What We Offer

Compensation: this function is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a income range of $72,700 - $130,200 located on your level of expertise, qualifications and practice. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base income.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours

Qualifications
Bachelors (or higher) in Wildlife or Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related Natural Resources field
Minimum of one year related practice with five years preferred
practice or familiarity with third-party environmental certification systems (e.g., SFI, FSC, ATFS, ISO)
Strong written and oral communication expertise, with the capability to collaborate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
capability to work safely under adverse conditions, including inclement weather and harsh terrain, and navigate safely on logging roads
Enthusiastic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to take on responsibilities and work cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders
Willing and able to travel across the U.S., with a focus on New England and West Virginia, up to 25 - 30% of the time depending on office location
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with availability to lgain new applications and technology as introduced
