Position Summary Information

Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:

The International Student Services Coordinator supervises compliance with federal regulations related to F and J visas, ensuring adherence to immigration policies and procedures. this function involves serving as the primary resource for international students and scholars, providing guidance on immigration matters, and managing SEVIS data. Additionally, the manager supports international student success by coordinating programs and events, advising students on personal and academic issues, and collaborating with stakeholders to address challenges. Furthermore, the manager assists with study abroad initiatives and supervises student workers in support of these efforts.
What You'll Do - Position Job responsibilities:

Compliance:
   » Act as the Alternate Responsible agent (ARO) for the Department of State and Designated School Official (DSO) for the Department of Homeland Security on all Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Academic Training (AT), and Optional Practical Training (OPT) related cases.
   » Interpret F-1 and J-1 visa regulations to ensure compliance and provide counseling and advising support to international students and scholars.
   » Assist students in obtaining F-1/J-1 immigration benefits and process I-20s and DS-2019s as required.
   » Serve as a resource on immigration regulations, policies, and practices to faculty and staff.
   » Assist with check-in and SEVIS registration.
   » Contribute to the development and presentation of specialized workshops and programs related to immigration.
   » Competent in and possesses thorough knowledge and interpretation of F and J regulations.
International Student Success:
   » Manage current programs and events for OIES.
   » Develop assessment plans for all programs and events.
   » Advise students on personal or academic issues and refer them to support services.
   » Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve student challenges.
   » Write professional reports on assigned projects. Study Abroad:
   » Assist with Study Abroad and Student Exchange Projects.
   » Supervise student workers. Key Competencies:

   » Five years of practice in international education with a proven record of success preferred.
   » Two years of full-time practice in an international education office.
   » practice traveling, studying, or working abroad.
   » Demonstrated practice with student outreach and student success.
   » practice in a position requiring planning, representing an organization, teamwork, and communication to achieve results.
   » Proficiency using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, social media, digital marketing, and email.
   » Knowledge of and practice with student development and student success theory.
Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 25 lbs. and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.

Job Conditions:
   » Must be able to work from the office and provide face-to-face customer service with OIES clientele.
   » Must be able to use a computer, telephone, copier, and printer.
   » Must be able to lift, move, or carry individual documents and paper boxes as part of the records retention process.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree in business, English, Marketing, Psychology, International Relations, or related field.
   » Three years of progressively responsible management practice of teams and projects, preferably in international education, immigration services, or student outreach.
