Job Summary The Division of Extension and Engagement's Family and Community Health Program is seeking a salaried Academic Wage: Coordinator of Community Mental Health Promotion. This is a part-time (0.75 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term position. This position is anticipated to last approximately 9 months.

Due to funding, OSU will not sponsor immigration work authorization for this position (e.g. H-1B, etc.).

This Coordinator of Community Mental Health Promotion is a member of the statewide team of the Oregon State University (OSU) Division of Extension and Engagement's (division) Extension Family and Community Health (FCH) program affiliated with the College of Health (COH). This Coordinator is located at the OSU Extension Family and Community Health office on the main OSU campus in Corvallis, Oregon. This position will work independently under the direct supervision and review of the Manager of Innovation, Evaluation, and Research in the OSU Center for Health Innovation (OCHI). Decisions regarding this position are in consultation with the OCHI Program Manager and FCH Program Leader.

This Coordinator of Community Mental Health Promotion and Substance Use avoidance will execute grant deliverables related to community mental health promotion and substance use avoidance, particularly in rural communities. The position is grant funded, supporting the work of the Northwest (Region 10) Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Collaborative. This Coordinator will collaborate with OSU Extension; COH faculty, staff, and students; state, local, and regional public health agencies; and community partners to accomplish program objectives.

As a member of the statewide team of Extension faculty and staff, collaborative work across disciplines, organizational units, and Extension programs areas is expected. The coordinator is expected to contribute to regional and state educational team efforts related to the incumbent's skills and interests, such as annual conferences and other activities as assigned.

This individual is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and/or carrying out educational programming and outreach activities to serve broad and diverse populations in an accessible, inclusive, equitable, and socially just manner. This includes complying with civil rights and language/visual access regulations.

This position requires driving/traveling. Active and effective communication with staff and key stakeholders is critical to the success of this position, wireless access may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities 50% - Program Coordination and Implementation
   » Plan, coordinate, and implement mental health promotion and substance use avoidance activities, including the SAMHSA-funded NW-ROTAC program, while being responsive to community needs and interests. Specific projects include updating and promoting a radio toolkit for communicating about mental health and substance use disorders; providing technical assistance for implementing Community Conversations about Mental Health; updating and promoting county-level resource guides; updating and promoting the Coast to Forest website; and connecting community partners to training opportunities.
   » Coordinate team progress toward meeting grant deliverables.
   » Develop and implement program policies and procedures to ensure efficient workflow and quality standards.
   » Identify and implement innovative efforts to better serve communities across the region (OR, WA, ID, AK) through mental health promotion, substance use avoidance, and other significant community programming.

10% - Team Coordination and Supervision
   » Convene and coordinate collaborative teams, including team members from external state agencies (such as Washington State), to execute multiple grant deliverables.
   » Facilitate active communication flow between program participants, partners, faculty, and team members.
   » Supervise undergraduate student employees who have various identities, backgrounds, and communication styles.
   » Plan, assign and approve the work of reporting employees; discipline, compensate, respond to grievances, hire, fire (or effectively recommend) and complete performance evaluations.

10% - Outreach and Partner Development
   » Establish and maintain continuing relationships with external community, industry, and government partners, in order to create new and expanded opportunities to partner on mental health promotion and substance use avoidance.
   » Develop and maintain a network of partner contacts.
   » Meet virtually with regional collaborators to advance shared efforts for promoting mental health and preventing substance use.
   » capability to travel on occasion will be required (1-2 times per year within the NW region) to execute outreach responsibilities and to develop and maintain partnerships.

10% - Monitoring and Assessment Activities
   » Compile data and documents for program evaluation.
   » Collect and monitor performance on all activities, in collaboration with the principal investigator (PI); includes maintaining systems of record keeping and data management.
   » Contribute to evaluation, scholarship, and dissemination of the project. This includes assisting with or leading literature searches, data collection and analyses, and writing/presenting reports or manuscripts for internal and external audiences.

10% - Fiscal Management
   » Assist with management of partner contracts to ensure work is performed in a high quality and timely way, deliverables are reviewed and approved, and invoices are approved for payment.
   » Keep records of expenses and assist principal investigator (PI) with budget management.

10% - Service to University and Extension
   » Provide mental health promotion and substance use avoidance subject matter skills for internal and external stakeholders.
   » Participate in professional activities and serve on appropriate boards, councils and committees of the University, the College, Extension, and the community, consistent with the requirements of the position's funding sources.
   » Maintain a professional development plan to improve technical skills, maintain program relevance, and increase program effectiveness.
   » Promote Oregon State University as a statewide institution of higher learning.
   » Promote Extension programs locally, statewide, and nationally.
   » Follow OSU and division brand guidelines, digital publishing standards and digital contact management data integrity practices for programmatic communications, marketing and engagement.
   » Attend training opportunities to build basic knowledge and consistent skills to use digital communications, marketing and engagement technologies significant to position tasks.
   » Complete the division's civil rights training session(s) and coordinate the completion of employee(s) supervised.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq.
