Position Summary:: The adjunct Director of the Math Center will primarily supervise tutoring initiatives in the Math Center, housed within the broader content tutoring service called The Learner's Studio.

This individual will recruit, train, evaluate, and supervise math and statistics tutors with input from other academic support offices and in collaboration with the Associate Director of Tutoring Services. The adjunct Director will create and support professional development opportunities for tutors, which may include content-specific training in mathematics and statistics. The adjunct Director will cultivate and maintain strong engagement with the Mathematics and Statistics department. The adjunct Director will design, plan, launch, and manage all math-specific summer programming delivered through Tutoring Services and work closely with the Manager of Tutoring Services and Tutoring Coordinator to ensure student needs are being smoothly and appropriately supported across campus tutoring initiatives. Will report twice a year to the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning on the Math Center and at other times as requested.

Hours are 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Villanova currently has a flexible work policy which will allow for some work in the house and other flexibility (possibility of 1 day a week during the semester and up to two days per week during semester recesses) with approval of manager.

tasks and Job responsibilities::
   » Recruit, hire, and supevise tutors handling math and statistics content areas
   » Research and implement best practices in Higher Ed tutoring services, primarily for math and statistics tutoring
   » Promote collaborative, cohesive content tutoring services across campus which best meet the needs of our student populations by working closely with undergraduate academic deprtments, especially Math and Statistics
   » Advertise and promote resources to students, faculty, and staff
   » Explore emerging best practices in using AI for math and statistics tutoring
   » Handle scheduling for math and statistics content tutors
   » Develop and deliver (or supervise delivery of) content-specific refresher tutor training events on content specific areas such as math, statistics, and other subjects as needed
   » Assist the Associate Director of Tutoring Services in recruiting and training mid-semester tutoring hires in math and statistics, or related areas, for CASA and Athletics peer tutoring services
   » Direct summer pre-calculus review programs and supervise summer content tutoring
   » Perform additional tasks and assist with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications::
   » Bachelors degree in Math, Statistics, or a closely related field
   » Minimum of 3 years significant practice in tutoring, instruction, or operations
   » capability to work with a variety of software packages including but not limited to programs significant to math and statistics, and specific scheduling/tutoring software
   » Outstanding interpersonal expertise with the capability to establish positive and respectful working relationships with students, faculty, and staff
   » Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all constituents
   » capability to work evening hours with advance notice
   » Deep commitment to the well-being of the University, a commitment to the University's Catholic/Augustinian heritage, and the advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community
Preferred Appropriate qualifications::
   » Masters degree in Math, Statistics, or a closely related field strongly preferred
   » practice in tutoring, tutor supervision, or tutoring center operations
   » Teaching practice strongly preferred
