Vineyard Operations ManagerOliver Search ConsultingFresno, CA APPLY» » » SAVE CREATE ALERT SHARE » » E-Mail: » » » formerly Twitter Listing descriptionJob location: Paso Robles, CADirectly responsible for the following under the direction of Ownership and the Area Manager: • Manage efficiency, Budget Adherence and Quality Control of overall everyday activities of personnel and equipment including cultural hand work, irrigation, fertilization, tractor activities, spraying and harvesting. Requiring routine vineyard visits to supervise progress and quality of work. • Conduct necessary meetings in order to effectively communicate work priorities to vineyard personnel. • leadership abilities by example. Be a functioning part of a high preforming team. • Conduct necessary meetings in order to effectively receive work requests from vineyard and winery clients. • Communicate with Area Manager and Ownership on a everyday basis regarding field operations, and client relations. • Communicate with wineries and vineyard clients. • Review spray/irrigation programs with Vit Dept. in order to make final decisions. • Work closely with vendors and external organizations such as: pump and irrigation companies, Ag Commissioner Offices, and vineyard supply companies. • Attend industry functions and events such as wine tastings, association meetings etc. • Harvest: Night supervision of machine harvest working closely with ownership. • Create and supervise cultural plans. • supervise and communicate with shop and mechanic team. • practice laying out and developing vineyards. • Coordinate with Area Manager on equipment needs. • Coordinate with Shop manager to ensure equipment is ready for the appropriate time of the year. • Work with Area Manager and shop manager to identify, locate and secure additional harvest equipment as needed. Key Qualifications • Knowledge of vineyard management practices especially in day-to-day operations • Knowledge of farming equipment • Knowledge of viticulture • Knowledge of irrigation practices • Good knowledge of wells, pumps, and irrigation infrastructure • Knowledge of pesticides and other farming chemicals and use • capability to work independently and make decisions on own • capability to plan work and achieve required results • capability to organize multiple tasks • capability work well with others • capability to work safely • Bi-lingual English/Spanish Education, Licenses and Certifications • Four-year degree preferred • Valid California driver’s license and clean DMV • Valid Private Applicators Certificate (Brown card) • First aid and CPR certified or capability to obtain • QAL license or availability to obtain within 12 months practice Desired • Approximately 5 years’ practice in Vineyard Management function • managery practice Physical Environment/Requirements • Often working outdoors in extremes of heat/humidity/cold and other weather conditions • Exposed to dust, noise, pesticides, gasoline, diesel fuel and solvents • Works with flammable and toxic materials • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds • Visual acuity • capability to hear • Use of both hands and finger dexterity • capability to walk on uneven ground This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; Information technology does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
