The Division of Academic Affairs is led by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The Division strives to strengthen ECU's culture of academic excellence through innovation, accountcapability, and collaboration. Academic Affairs includes the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering and Technology, Fine Arts and Communication, Health and Human Performance, Nursing, the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Dental Medicine, Honors College, and Graduate School, and the academic faculty and academic programs of the Brody School of Medicine. Administrative units within Academic Affairs include Academic Administration, Global Affairs, Learner Operations, Institutional Planning, Assessment and Research; Office for Faculty Excellence, the Office of Research, and the Office of Innovation and Engagement.

The Office of Innovation and Engagement, led by the Chief Innovation and Engagement agent, collaborates with departments and colleges/schools across the University, and with ECU's Office of Research, to amplify the university's service to and economic impact on North Carolina. The Office develops partnerships with external entities that benefit the university and helps advance mutually beneficial innovation, economic development, and community engagement interests.

The Office of Innovation and Engagement is also charged with working with university and industry stakeholders to develop, implement, manage, evaluate, and continuously improve innovative non-credit educational services and programs that address current and developing needs of local, regional, and state businesses and industries in ways that benefit the University and support workforce development and regional economic growth.

The Office of Innovation and Engagement is supported through various funding sources including state appropriations, grants, contracts, continuing education programs, and philanthropic donors. The team includes 26 full-time staff focused on innovation-led economic development, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, startup incubation, and outreach and engagement partnerships across governmental agencies, business and industry, the military, and nonprofit organizations. The Offices of Community Engagement, Continuing and Professional Education, Licensing and Commercialization, National Security and Industry Initiatives, Small Business and Technology Development Center, and the East Carolina Research and Innovation Campuses are part of this team.

Job tasks The unit is continuing and professional education which is part of the Office of Innovation and Engagement and reports directly to the director for Continuing and Professional Education. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage day-to-day marketing operations for both the Continuing Professional Education and Lifelong Learning programs. The function of this position is to increase enrollment and revenue for programs utilizing excellent communication and writing expertise, as well as expertise in photography, graphic design, email marketing, digital marketing, and website management. This position will problem solve, work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner, and maintain organized electronic records. This position will effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and the public to provide excellent customer service which is a critical component of customer satisfaction and success by providing timely, courteous, solutions-located customer assistance for all CPE programs. This customer service includes answering phones, monitoring and answering departmental email accounts, accepting payments for courses, providing customer service at in-person events, and developing and maintaining relationships with clients and supporters. The position calls for occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel as needed.

This position performs the following tasks:

Communication & Marketing - 40%
   » Update and maintain CPE and LLP websites including course, program, and event information
   » Manage Destiny One Registration Marketing Software
   » Create Marketing materials for courses, programs, and events
   » Create and manage a monthly Newsletter
   » Update and Expanding the marketing contact lists, groups, and segments
   » Create Marketing Campaigns and timelines
   » Create posts and manage CPE and LLP social media including programming announcements and scheduling
   » Manage and update Event Calendars
   » Communicate with CPE and LLP stakeholders regarding program, course, or event planning details as needed
   » Develop and design informational and program communication for CPE and LLP
   » Analyze marketing campaigns and make improvements located on data and enrollments
   » Coordinate with ECU Creative Services, Departmental Communications, and News Services as needed
   » Cultivate professional relationships with all levels of the program/organization, internal and external

Research & Compare Program Marketing - 10%
   » Review Continuing and Professional Education Marketing Campaigns, websites, email newsletters at universities.
   » Assess needs, and determine new marketing options for programs
   » Identify marketing gaps and research new market groups and contacts
   » Prepare a baseline needs assessment for new and existing programs
leadership abilities - 20%
   » Develop and manage plans for CPE and LLP marketing
   » Consult regularly with director of CPE to provide reporting necessary to make strategic decisions to grow and sustain CPE programming
   » Develop and implement short-term strategies to promote, advance, and sustain the CPE catalog as well as enhance LLP courses
   » Participate in professional groups for university marketing
Program Administration - 30%
   » Manage enrollment and course registration processes including utilization of learning management and customer relationship management systems
   » Manage Special Events, Programs, and Trips as needed
   » Assist with Canvas course management, technology, and customer assistance
   » Assist with Digital Badging management
   » Research and conduct needs assessments to better market continuing and professional education opportunities to adult learners within eastern North Carolina and other regions
   » Develop assessment tools and conduct marketing evaluation for CPE and LLP
   » Manage marketing for several multi-faceted programs in their entirety
   » Coordinate technology required for course delivery
   » Provide assistance as needed with answering CPE & LLP phones
   » Assist with providing accurate information regarding CPE & LLP programs to callers and visitors
   » Assist program event set-up & breakdown
   » Assist with event check-in/registration including managing petty cash and credit card machines
   » Generate receipts and/or invoices to participants
   » Maintain PCI compliance
   » Take program registrations and payments from callers or visitors
   » Assist with printing program materials, preparing folders, name tags, and rosters
   » Travel to off-campus programs sites as needed
   » Assist with loading and unloading of equipment at program site

Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's degree and one year of practice related to the area of assignment or equivalent combination of training and practice. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation None

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education practice in course design, curriculum, and/or training, and course marketing. practice planning and/or coordinating events, preferably in a college or university setting. practice in photography, graphic design, email marketing, digital marketing, and website management. Familiarity with design software and website software.
