Min Hourly Rate $14.20 (Standard); $13.20 (Non-Urban); $15.45 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $20.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) KBVR-FM Music Director position for the Orange Media Network (OMN) at Oregon State University (OSU). The KBVR-FM Music Director is responsible for curating, organizing, reviewing and ingesting new music for KBVR-FM. This includes working with labels and promoters to find new music, charting music plays, and working with volunteers to review all new music prior to being played on KBVR-FM. Position tasks KBVR-FM Music Director Responsibilities » Coordinate the reception of newly received music to KBVR-FM and supervise the reviewing of music on a weekly basis » Connect with record and promotion label promoters on a weekly basis via email or phone » Connect with local artists and update Local Music rotator regularly » Gain proficiency in reviewing weekly station charts through Spinitron » Report to NACC (North American College and Community Chart) weekly with top charts and adds, as well as specialty charts when possible » Maintain and organize music library at KBVR, including physical media and rotators. Add new music weekly and phase out older music. » Work with the Station Manager and Asst. Station Manager to maintain contact with venues and promoters locally to acquire tickets and other merchandise for on-air giveaways » Host 1-2 DJ info sessions per term as delegated by the Station Manager » Be proficient in the Wide Orbit music scheduling software and Wheatstone equipment in the DJ booth » Participate in training new DJs as assigned by station manager » Post to KBVR-FM social media as directed by the social media calendar » Manage and contribute to the music blog Cassette, under direction from the KBVR-FM Station Manager???? » Work with FM Station Manager and Barometer Editor-in-Chief to ensure that the Cassette Blog is updated at least once per week » Work with DJs and staff to get media passes to shows to provide coverage for Cassette - interviews, photos, social media posts » Coordinate with promoters and artists to recruit and schedule interviews for KBVR-FM » Correct reported mistakes in the stack and digital library » Attend weekly cohort meeting » Other tasks as assigned by the adviser and Station Manager Communication » Respond to emails, messages and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN » Notify adviser immediately should any ethical, legal, personnel or controversial problems occur Collaboration » Hold and post regular office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of which should be during regular business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
